Putnam High School drama program gets 'A Clue!'
The long-awaited revival of Putnam High School’s drama program arrived with an impressive production of “Clue: The High School Edition.” Performed on April 4 and 5 in the school’s Black Box Theater, students transformed the space into a thrilling murder mystery, demonstrating both technical skill and theatrical talent.
The production, based on the classic board game and film, was directed by Katie Jambard with assistance from Dave Desrosiers and Skye Shogren. It featured creatively designed costumes and sets that wowed the audiences of both sold-out shows. Cast and crew dedicated countless hours to rehearsals over the past few months and created an impressive performance that showcased the school’s renewed commitment to live theater.
“The rehearsals were fun and tough at times, but the show was worth the late night rehearsals,” said cast member Abby Daniels.
For many students, the production offered opportunities to discover hidden talents. “Our production of Clue: High School Edition allowed for many students like myself to showcase talents we did not know we had,” said Kasyn Robillard, who participated in the show.
Director Jambard said: “The Putnam High School Drama Club Advisors are incredibly excited to have brought live theater back to PHS! We have been incredibly impressed by the talent of our students and look forward to growing the program.”
The revival of the drama club has been particularly meaningful for students seeking diverse extracurricular opportunities. Senior Melanie Garcia said: “Joining drama club in my senior year brings me back to my days at community theatre! I’m really excited PHS decided to add this to the diversity in extracurricular activities offered.”
For some participants, the production represented their first theatrical experience. “I’m so happy that we got a group of people together who all love theatre! This was my first time ever doing something like this, but I’m so grateful for the experience,” said Olivia Hetrick. “I can’t wait to see the future productions, the growth of all my younger classmates, and the growth of the program!”
