Library wins Ken Burns' grant
Ties in with 'The American Revolution' documentary
PUTNAM — Nicole Nichols, adult services librarian at the Putnam Public Library, was notified July 21 that the library won a grant as part of the Ken Burns’ upcoming PBS documentary series “The American Revolution.”
Stefanie Malone, who is leading the national library engagement for the series, said “Your proposal stood out among more than 440 applications from libraries across the country. We’re thrilled to support your efforts to create meaningful programming that connects your community to the series’ central themes of liberty, democracy, civic engagement, and storytelling.” Nichols said only 35 proposals were chosen out of more than 440 applications.
In addition to a $750 grant, the library will receive: Access to themed screening reels from the series; a promotional toolkit via the series’ dedicated Brandfolder; discussion guides and event templates; connection to your local PBS station and online tools and resources
Malone said the library’s local programming may begin as early as Sept. 15, 2025, with the grant running through Aug. 15, 2026.
Malone added, “We’re so excited to partner with you and can’t wait to see the impact your library will have as part of this national initiative. Thank you again for your commitment to public engagement and congratulations!”
