The Town of Pomfret amended the “Ordinance Regarding Tax Abatements for Volunteer Firefighters” at the Annual Town Meeting held May 14, 2026. The Ordinance shall become effective June 12, 2026, or fifteen (15) days after its publication in a newspaper having a general circulation in the Town of Pomfret and is available for review in the office of the Pomfret Town Clerk, 5 Haven Road, Pomfret, Connecticut.
In Summary: The Ordinance Regarding Tax Abatements for Volunteer Firefighters amended at an Annual Town Meeting on May 8, 2014, was further amended pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes Section 12-81(6) as amended by Public Act 99-272, allowing for an abatement increase per schedule outlined in Section 4 of said Ordinance and life membership status listed in Section 5 of said Ordinance.
