Celebration

The Mansion at Bald Hill’s New Banquet Center had its official Ribbon Cutting ceremony recently in Woodstock. Those attending the ceremony were greeted by owner of the new Banquet Center Joseph Carlone and his family.  The Northeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce Committee invited Senator Richard Blumenthal, who accepted the invitation and participated.  Following the ribbon cutting everyone gathered inside of the Grand Ball Room for congratulatory speeches from the Chamber and Senator Blumenthal. The Mansion at Bald Hill Restaurant key people include: GM – Janet Waterman, Chef/Owner – Scott Plantier, and Chef/Owner – Joel Theriaque.

PUTNAM --- The Aspinock Historical Society will present Movies at the Putnam library with “Boy in the Striped Pajamas” from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and “Lie is Beautiful” from 6 to 8 p.m. 

 

Fun Runs

THOMPSON --- The Wednesday Fun runs will be held at the West Thompson Dam through Sept. 16. The runs/walks start at 6:15. All welcome.

 

‘Touring’ Exhibit

WOODSTOCK --- Historic New England’s new exhibit “Touring New England, 1820 – 1970” opens today and runs through Oct. 15 at  Roseland Cottage, in the Carriage Barn. It explores why the region’s natural and built environments have been tourist destinations for centuries. The exhibit touches on the distinct characteristics of each New England state: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.  Free.

Rabies Clinic

DANIELSON --- Pet Pals Northeast, a local animal welfare organization, is holding a low cost rabies clinic at the from 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Quinebaug Valley Veterinary Hospital, Rt. 12, Danielson/Plainfield town line. POMFRET --- The Pomfret Public Library will present “Lunch with Friends”, followed by a presentation from Dione Longley, co-author of Heroes for All Time: Connecticut’s Civil War Soldiers Tell Their Stories from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.. PUTNAM — An open house was recently held at the Ameriprise Financial in downtown Putnam.

The office is changing over to Info on change over to Bucknam, Masseur Associates, an Investment Advisory Office of Ameriprise Financial

Jay Wade was appointed with IDS Financial Services in December 1989 and opened an office downtown in 1993, above Shaw’s Stationary Store. American Express, the owner of IDS Financial Services, rebranded the company to American Express Financial Advisors late 1990s. In 2006 American Express spun off the financial advisory business to its own free standing company, Ameriprise Financial. In May 2014 Wade  merged his practice with  Bucknam, Masseur Associates, an investment management office of Ameriprise Financial. Its main office is in Warwick, R.I., and currently has five advisers in the practice and six support staff.

Wade said “Bucknam, Masseur Associates has made a commitment to the Putnam area by maintaining the Putnam office to serve clients in the surrounding area.”

 The office suite located at 158 Main St. and has been renovated in order to continue to provide a high level of service to clients.
