POMFRET CENTER — The Connecticut Audubon Society’s Grassland Bird Conservation Center and the Quinebaug Valley Photography Club have teamed up to host their 4th Annual “Focus on Nature” photography contest, exhibit and sale this April and May.
The contest, which will be held at the Grassland Bird Conservation Center on Day Road, is open to amateur photographers and offers nature categories for entrants in three age divisions: adults, (who do not make their living from photography), young adults (ages 13-18), and children (ages 12 and under). Photos must fall into one of the following four categories: plants or insects; landscapes or seascapes; birds; or animals (wild or captive). Nature photographs should not include manmade features.
Photographs must be framed, matted and/or mounted and must have a wire on the back for hanging. The maximum size including the frame must not exceed 20” X 24”. Submissions must be the work of the entrant. Entry fees will be charged to benefit the Audubon Society’s Grassland Bird Conservation Center. Photographs may also be offered for sale.
Entries may be brought to the Audubon’s Grassland Bird Conservation Center at 218 Day Road from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from March 8 through 15. The exhibit will open on March 23 and run until May 10. All works must remain on display during this time.
A reception and awards ceremony will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. April 12 where winners will be announced.
