'Orange you glad'
food drive
PUTNAM — Since Hunger Action Day on Sept. 6, the effort to raise awareness about hunger in the Quiet Corner has continued.
The Citizens National Bank continues to work with Interfaith Human Services of Putnam – Daily Bread to promote Hunger Action Month.
The bank is hosting a month-long food drive in all of its branches and also collecting monetary donations.
In addition, employees of the bank have had the opportunity to participate in multiple dress-down days during the month in exchange for the donation of nonperishable food items. The theme of this year’s campaign was “Wear Orange.”
Sept. 20 nearly a dozen employees at the Putnam branch were sporting bright orange shirts.
Commercial Loan Officer Jennifer McKay said that the orange shirts are so popular; customers ask if they are available for purchase. They are.
For $15, orange, CNB hunger awareness shirts can be ordered at the branch – proceeds benefit local food pantries.
With one food bin overflowing and one beginning to fill up, McKay said that Putnam branch customers have also donated approximately $500.
CNB President and CEO David Conrad said that the effort to raise money and collect food for local families has been going well.
Food items and monetary donations from this campaign will benefit several organizations in the community, including Daily Bread (Putnam, Woodstock and Thompson), TEEG (Thompson), Friends of Assisi Food Pantry (Danielson), and Project PIN (Brooklyn). To make a donation, please visit any of the bank’s branches.
