N. GROSVENORDALE — TEEG’s community programs department announced applications are available and donations are needed for the 2013 Back to School Program. Last year TEEG was able to help over 160 children go back to school prepared.
The program, in its 12th year, allows local families to send their children to school with the supplies necessary for academic success. Through generous support from the community, TEEG is able to provide income qualified area families with school supplies, backpacks, and clothing vouchers. The program serves children in preschool through college.

These items are needed: Large, sturdy backpacks for middle/high school size kids, College Rule Notebooks, three-ring binders, folders, pens, children safety scissors, scissors, rulers, large erasers, pencil topper erasers, wide-rule notebooks, composition notebooks, book covers, loose-leaf paper, glue, highlighters. Monetary donations are also needed to buy clothing and shoe vouchers.
Donate by Aug. 15 and bring to TEEG at 15 Thatcher Rd, N. Grosvenordale, CT 06255. Donations bins are at: The Thompson Town Hall tax collector’s office, First Selectman’s office at Woodstock Town Hall, first selectman’s office at Pomfret Town Hall, Thompson Public Library and Midtown Fitness. Council 2087 of the Knights of Columbus recently presented the leadership and scouts of Troop 66 of the Boy Scouts of America, headquartered in Thompson, with a donation of $900. The funds were given without restriction to advance Troop 66’s programs and activities. The check was presented to Troop 66 Scoutmaster Tim Shea by Council 2087 Deputy Grand Knight Richard Birch. RINDGE, N.H. --- The following local residents graduated from Franklin Pierce University in the fall of 2012: Audrey Witkowski of Thompson, who earned a bachelor's in anthropology. Witkowski was also named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester by maintaining a term grade point average of at least 3.3 on a scale of four; Michael Aiello of Thompson who earned a bachelor's in graphic communications..
