POMFRET — Team Longmeadow’s fund-raiser for the Deary Memorial Cancer Fund, held recently at The Vanilla Bean Café, was a ‘rocking n bopping’ success - the event raising more than $1,800. Friends and supporters from the community poured in to the local establishment to support the cancer fund, enjoying great tunes, provided by Nine6teen - a well-known band with roots in Pomfret.
Event organizer, Karyn DiBonaventura, was thrilled with the event’s success. “A sold out event! We had a great turn out...thank you for the support! Thank you [to] those who came to listen and buy tickets for all the awesome donated items. Special thanks to all the local businesses that donated items, The Vanilla Bean Café and to WINY for making sure that NECT heard we were having a party! And a party it was!”
DiBonaventura added, “I am truly at amazed how giving this community really is, and so proud to call NECT my home!”
Anyone interested in joining Team Longmeadow for the 24th Annual Day Kimball Healthcare Deary Memorial Race, Walk & Ride on Aug. 10 can stop by Longmeadow Automotive to sign up.
“It’s through the support of many that the Day Kimball Healthcare Deary Memorial Cancer Fund is able to change the life of an individual. Money raised subsidizes mammograms, ultrasounds, medications, travel and surgical procedures for people in the local community needing financial assistance. Additionally, the fund-raiser supports The Tom C. Deary Jr. Scholarship awarded to students pursuing a career in radiology. All money raised remain local.”
