Fraud warning from police
PUTNAM — On July 18 the Putnam Police Department took multiple complaints of a fraudulent scheme in which local businesses were contacted by a man claiming to be from a Utility Provider. The investigation is ongoing.
In the meantime the Putnam Police urges residents to check the credentials of persons proposing to be from any organization when that person asks for payment or personal information. Citizens are always discouraged from giving unknown persons any financial or personal information via telephone or email.
Residents of the Putnam Special Services District who have encountered similar circumstances or solicitations are encouraged to contact the Putnam Police Department.
