PUTNAM — June 5 the Putnam II Leo Club held its annual Induction/Installation ceremony. Leia Faucher, president of the Putnam Lions Club, inducted 17 new members into the Putnam II Leo Club.
Putnam II Leo President Connor Vassar, installed eight new officers for the 2022-2023 Leo year.
Induction and Installation was followed by a brief ceremony celebrating the 10-year Anniversary of the Putnam II Leo Club.
Lion Barbara Chubbuck spoke of her involvement with the Putnam II Leo Club since she helped to establish the club in 2010.
Lion Bernie Gilbert, District 23C Zone chair, offered words of encouragement to the Putnam II Leos with an emphasis on serving one’s community.
Putnam Mayor Barney Seney proclaimed June 5 Putnam II Leo Club Day, in recognition of the Putnam II Leo Club, and presented the Club with a Proclamation plaque.
Later the Leos made fleece blankets that were donated to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp for their summer campers.

Putnam will
'jazz it up'
Aug. 13
PUTNAM — Starting at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 13, the Town of Putnam will be hosting a Jazz and Blues event, “Tournadeau,” in Rotary Park. Entertainment will include music from Billy Pilgrim (2:30 to 4 p.m.), Highway Hillbillies Band (4:15 to 5:30 p.m.), Wayne Sinclair (5:30 to 6:30 p.m.), and Christine Ohlman & Rebel Montez (7 – 8:30 p.m.). The event will conclude with a River Fire with music provided by WINY Radio.
The featured performer, Christine Ohlman, is a renowned vocalist, known for her work in the house band on NBC’s Saturday Night Live. She is widely known as a jazz and blues performer in conjunction with her career on the show.
Several artisans will be in the park showcasing their talents. Beth Johnson with encaustics, Laura Moorehead with acrylics, Adelaide Designs will showcase jewelry making. Elaine Turner will be painting some town scenes, Shannon Ferri will be making pottery, and Myra Ambrogie will be weaving.
Please bring a chair or blanket. Refreshments will be available. The event is powered by: Centreville Bank, WIN Waste Innovations, and TOURNADEAU.
