Legal Notice is hereby given to the taxpayers of the Town and Fire District of Pomfret that the first installment of taxes on the Grand List of October 1, 2021, is DUE AND PAYABLE July 1, 2022.
The last day to pay without penalty is August 1, 2022. Per State Statute, interest will be charged at 18 percent annually (1.5 percent per month), with a minimum charge of $2.00 per entity (Town and Fire District are separate entities) on all delinquent payments postmarked after August 1, 2022.
Please make all checks payable to Pomfret Tax Collector. The mailing address is 5 Haven Road, Pomfret Center, CT 06259. If a receipt is desired, please enclose a stamped, self-addressed envelope. For more information or to pay on line, go to www.pomfretct.gov.
Tax office hours are: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday

Woodstock Fair
announces lineup
The big shows are back at the Woodstock Fair, always Labor Day weekend, with nationally-known musical acts returning after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
The 161st annual edition of the Fair opens at noon Sept. 2 and runs through Sept. 5.
The Main Stage will get underway at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2 with the hilarious antics of Fantastick Patrick. The physical comedian from the Midwest comes to the East Coast for a first time and will do two shows daily on the Main Stage.
The Friday schedule also includes two shows by a pair of bands.
The ‘60s Explosion Band from Southeastern Connecticut will make its Woodstock Fair debut and will open for Friday’s headliner, Back in Black, an AC/DC tribute band from Boston. Get ready to rock with Back in Black and all of the AC/DC hits, like “Thunderstruck” and “You Shook Me All Night Long,” at 4 and 8 p.m. Friday.
On Sat. Sept. 3 on the Main Stage: At 2:30 p.m., Cornell Gunter’s Coasters bring back the 1950s with their hits “Yakety Yak,” “Charlie Brown,’ and “Poison Ivy.” At 8 p.m., a group famous for their songs “Sultans of Swing,” “Walk of Life” and “Money for Nothing”, Dire Straits Legacy, featuring five former members of the band, comes over from Britain to Woodstock.
The Roc-Kin’-On Band from northeastern Connecticut will open for both the Coasters and Dire Straits Legacy and the Danielson Martial Arts Academy will also perform two daytime shows Sept. 3.
Sunday, Sept. 4 on the Main Stage: classic country’s Larry, Rudy and Steve, the Gatlin Brothers, at 2:30 p.m. The Gatlins will bring their hits “Sure Feels like Love,” “Houston,” “The Lady Takes the Cowboy Every Time,” and “All the Gold in California,” as well as their own brand of homespun fun and humor to the Woodstock Fair.
At 8 p.m. Sept. 4 on the Main Stage: Gary Levox, the lead singer of Rascal Flatts, will bring hits including “Me and My Gang,” “Rewind,” “Life is a Highway,” and “Mayberry.” Local country talent Frankie Justin will open for both of the national acts on Sunday.
On Mon., Sept. 5 on the Main Stage: Gin Blossoms at 3:30 p.m. — it’s classic alternative rock as the Gin Blossoms will perform top-10 hits like “Follow You Down,” “Hey Jealousy,” and “Allison Road,” The northeastern Connecticut party band, Red Light, will do two shows. Tickets: $15 for adults; advance general admission tickets are $13; senior citizens and active military with an ID $10; children 10 years and under are free. www.woodstockfair.com.

At the July 20, 2022, meeting of the Pomfret Planning & Zoning Commission, the following legal actions were taken:
1. Esteven Acevedo, 111 Brook Front Lane, special permit application for a gun shop. Due to time frame for site plan to be ready, the commission made the decision to not go forward with this application. Application was DENIED without prejudice.
2. Town of Pomfret P&Z Commission, 5 Haven Road, test amendment regarding setbacks (reductions for municipal accessory uses/structures). Application was APPROVED with an effective date of August 15, 2022.
