Rotary Day
of Service
The Putnam Rotary Club and the Interact Club joined forces on April 9 to celebrate the Rotary Day of Service. Rotarians and Interact members, braving the wind and rain, collected five large boxes of toiletry items to be used to make kits for the homeless and assist TEEG, Daily Bread and the local shelters. In addition, according to Putnam Rotary Club President J. Scott Pempek, over $1,100 in monetary donations were collected. Inside WINY Radio, Interact members were creating tie-dyed socks to be sold at their Relay For Life booth on June 4 at Roseland Park. Taking part that day were: Pempek, Karen Osbrey, Pam Brown, Woody Durst, Roberta Rocchetti, Marc Archambault, John Miller, Elizabeth Williams, Delpha Very and Joe Adiletta; plus Interactors: Amayah Chavez, Emily St. Martin, Sierra Girard, Lucas Cornell, Iayah Burke and Mikayla Walford. The Northeast Probate Court will be holding community outreach events for the residents of the Northeast Probate District this month.
Probate Judge Leah Schad will present general court information and answer questions and Chief Clerk Mary Ann Champney will be available to assist with court forms, answer questions and provide information about local resources for families.
Judge Schad said that before COVID, clerks at the court were able to sit down with residents and give personal assistance to people going through a difficult time. S
ince COVID, the Court remains open to the public but space constraints prevent the clerks from spending extended one-on-one time assisting people.
She said this outreach program “will allow court staff to return to our regular engagement with the community.”

The Probate Court helps families who have lost a loved one settle their estates, appoints conservators when a family member is no longer able to care for themselves, and appoints guardians to protect the intellectually disabled and handles matters involving children in need.
