Donated buckets come in handy
NOW Executive Director Tayler Shea thanked Sherwin Williams Commercial Paint Store in Warwick for donating 40 five-gallon buckets. Shea said: “NOW is very thankful for the generosity of Sherwin Williams Paint Store. This level of giving is truly heartwarming and perhaps an amazing reminder that our sense of community extends far outside of the Quiet Corner. On behalf of NOW, I would like to wholeheartedly thank Sherwin Williams for the investment that they have made in our community.” The buckets are being used to power the NOW & Hale YMCA Super Soaker Kids Fun Run that runs through Sept. 19.

Labonte's passion will life on in library mural
July 13 mother Roberta Solomon, daughter Zoe Labonte and aunt Linda Pacheco represented the family of Shannon Labonte as they made a generous monetary donation in her memory to the Putnam Public Library. The money came as a result of the family’s ardent fund raising efforts. Shannon was an avid book reader and frequent customer at the library. She shared her passion for books with the children at Country Kids Child Care. Each week she checked out stacks of books for the children, herself and her daughter Zoe. Putnam Public Library Director Priscilla Colwell said the donation will go toward helping to create a beautiful tree mural in the children’s room in the new library in the Municipal Complex. The mural will be created using funds from Shannon’s memorial as well as other library patrons who have passed away. The caption reads, “From little seeds grow mighty trees”. Tucked in under the tree is a cheerful frog which is a reminder of the lovely Shannon. She really liked frogs! The frog is a sweet reminder of Shannon and her love for the library.
