PUTNAM — Emergency medicine physician Vanessa M. Brown, MD, JD, FACEP, FAAEM has been named medical director of the Townsend Emergency Medical Center at Day Kimball Hospital.
Dr. Brown received a bachelor’s in biology from Yale University, a doctorate of medicine from the University of California and a doctorate of jurisprudence from Quinnipiac University. She completed her emergency medicine residency at Denver Health Medical Center.
She recently served as an attending physician at Stamford Hospital in Stamford where she also served as chair of the Credentials Committee. She is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Brown was raised in Cheshire and is active as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and serves on the Board of Directors for StoryCorps, Inc. and Horizons at New Canaan Country School. In her free time, Dr. Brown enjoys traveling with her family, tennis and sailing.

CorePlus Federal Credit Union has named Daniel Steward of Waterford to the Board of Directors, after being elected by the Board in February 2021. He fills an unexpired term, held by Robert Trinque, former director and chair, who stepped down.
Steward is the retired (November 2019) first selectman for the Town of Waterford having served for 14 years. Prior to this position, he served as a supervisor for the IT department at Dominion Power Station (Millstone) for 4 years. He began his career working for SNET in a variety of positions from consulting to designing telephone systems and serving customers from the smallest to the largest in the State of Connecticut retiring in 2000.
He has also served to support several non-profits as a board member for Habitat for Humanity for 6 years, Board of Education for Town of Waterford for 4 years and other positions.
