1 hurt in accident
PUTNAM — One person was taken to Day Kimball Hospital with suspected minor injuries after an accident around 3 p.m. Dec. 22. Putnam Police said Emergency Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Woodstock Avenue and Van den Noort St. Police said a 2017 Subaru Outback operated by Gerard Cotnoir, 94, of Putnam was traveling southbound on Van den Noort Street and failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of Woodstock Avenue. His car then collided with a 2013 Ford Escape traveling westbound on Woodstock Avenue operated by Savannah Audet, 30, of Woodstock. Putnam EMS transported one person to Day Kimball Hospital with suspected minor injuries. Woodstock Ave. was closed to traffic for a short time to facilitate the removal of the vehicles from the roadway. The Putnam Fire Department also responded to assist with a fluid leak and traffic control.

William J. ‘Bill’ Perron
WOODSTOCK — William J. “Bill” Perron, 86, of Pulpit Rock Dec. 23, 2020, at Day Kimball Hospital. He was the husband of Joan (Morgado) Perron, who he married in 1956. In 1973 both Joan and Bill moved to Woodstock, where their family flourished. Born in 1934 in Auburn, Mass., he was the son of the late William and Jeannette (LaBombard) Perron.
Bill started his career in 1966 as a chemist working in the R&D department; he quickly was promoted to the position of assistant plant manager of the Webster Division of Cranston Print Works in Webster. He was then promoted to the position of plant manager.
He managed this facility making it the largest division in the company at that time. After a successful run at managing this facility he was promoted to the position of VP of Manufacturing and Director of Operations responsible for six divisions of Cranston Print Works.
Bill was volunteer Dad of the Sacred Heart Church Boy Scout Troop 171 and an active member of the Webster Rotary and Webster Chamber of Commerce. In 1980 he received the Chamber prestigious Man of the Year Award. When he was not working in his community, he enjoyed working in his yard and quahogging with his dear friends, “The Cool Kids” and his family on Cape Cod. His kind and gentle demeanor and his large appetite for life will always be an inspiration to all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, he leaves two sons; Jim Perron of Woodstock, Bill Perron of Brooklyn; his three daughters in laws Kathie Perron, Lynn Dooley, Leslie Lyle; his two brothers John and Thomas Perron both of Fairhaven, Mass..; his sister Rita Daniels of Massachusetts; eight grandchildren Jeremy, Zach, Colton, Chelsea, Jacob, Tommy, Jed, Cheyenne; and a great-granddaughter Jessa June Perron. He is predeceased by his son; Thomas M. Perron; and his two sisters Carol McCarthy and Susan Cornell. The Mass of Christian Burial was Dec. 30 in St. Mary Church of the Visitation, Putnam. The second installment of taxes, due to the Town of Putnam and Special Service District on the Grand List of October 1, 2019, is due and payable on January 1, 2021, through February 1, 2021, for real estate taxes of landlords not approved for deferral and escrowed accounts, and April 1, 2021, for all other taxpayers (in accordance with Governor Lamont’s Executive Order 9R).
