Creepin' It Real by Jennerate
The fall fun in Putnam is in full swing.
The winners of the annual town-wide Scarecrow Contest are: first, “Fan of Fall” by Monique Paquette; second, Ms. Wrinkle Free by Archambault Insurance Associates; “The House that Berkshire Built” by Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, New England Properties; and honorable mention, ReMax Above the Clouds.
The scarecrows are in Rotary Park, Main Street, Union Square and the River Trail and Providence Street and will be on display for a little while.
The Town of Putnam and the Putnam Business Association have been working with Nomad Digital Consulting and Jennerate, LLC to provide viewing entertainment for the community in light of the many cancellations due to the global pandemic.
The sand sculpture by Sandtasia in the Putnam Public Library’s front yard is finished. It is sponsored by Jewett City Savings Bank, Rawson Materials and Donny D’s Custom Landscaping, and Putnam.
Putnam is “Creepin’ It Real” with another new feature that that will give visitors a ghoulish welcome into downtown. The carved ghoulish beauty, created by Jennerate, is hanging above the bandstand in Rotary Park. The 10-foot by 4-foot hand-carved sign gives a nod to the annual Zombie Fashion Show.
The last Pop-Up Putnam, an open-air market, will be from noon to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at Rotary Park. Vendors feature handmade items; vendor spaces are spread far apart through town to offer plenty of physical distancing for shopping.
Also at Rotary Park, one day only, the Great Pumpkin will make an appearance. Or you can stand on the shore and admire Steve’s River Blossoms, mums gracing the River Fire fire pots in the Quinebaug River, courtesy of Bousquet’s Appliances in honor of the late Steve Bousquet. The Blossoms will be displayed to Nov. 5.
