Volunteer painters
are needed
PUTNAM — A Cady-Copp Paint Party will be held starting at 9 a.m. Oct. 24 and volunteers are needed.
It will be an exterior paint day. Since the exterior work was done so nicely this summer, we don’t want to lose that forward momentum. The Aspinock Historical Society will supply the paint. Bring brushes, tools, and dress to paint, and for the weather. Bring masks in case you get within 6 feet of another volunteer.
Volunteers contact Cady-Copp project manager, Bill Pearsall at 860-928-5947 or by email at

Rotary Gathers Supplies
The Putnam Rotary Club recently ran a school cleaning supplies collection. Rotarians gathered supplies at schools in Pomfret, Putnam, Woodstock and Thompson and at WINY Radio. In addition to a great collection of supplies, more than $650 was also collected for schools. Pictured are Dick Loomis on the left and Kristen Willis, the club president, at Pomfret Community School. Inducted
The Thompson Lions Club recently inducted a member into the Melvin Jones Fellowship, one of the highest awards that a member can receive. Since the club’s start 1953 only 15 members have received this honor. The recipients were Lenny Genest, left, and Merrill Robbins. The awards were presented by the Melvin Jones Committee, District Governor Frank Rowe, and Thompson Lions Club President King Lion William “Bill” Juzwic. Lions International recognizes outstanding individuals by bestowing on them an award that is named for its founder, Melvin Jones. This Fellowship Award (LCIF) is the highest form of recognition and embodies humanitarian ideas consistent with the nature and purpose of Lionism. Courtesy photo.
