Campership Donation
For the month of July Bakers Dozen held a promotion to support camp scholarships for the Hale YMCA’s 2020 Camp-A-Thon. Customers could purchase Del’s lemonade at one of their five locations in NE CT and a portion of each purchase was donated to camperships for Camp Cutler. Aug. 20 Baker’s Dozen presented a check for $2,000 to support sending kids to camp.

The Town of Putnam Zoning Commission will be holding a meeting via Zoom on September 16, 2020, at 7:00 P.M. A public hearing will be held on the following:
Docket # 2020-08: Wheelabrator Putnam Inc. — Request for amendments to the Special Permit previously issued pursuant to Section 710 of the regulations for the construction and operation of a Residue Facility. The amendment is for the expansion of the Residue Facility onto properties abutting the existing facility, which is consistent with the current Zoning Regulations and the provisions of the amended Ground Lease between the Town of Putnam and Wheelabrator Putnam Inc. approved by a Special Town Meeting vote in July 2015. Properties noted by location # 376, 388, 392, 404, 422, 444 and 458 River Road. Town Assessor’s Map 48, Lots 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 13 and 14. Zoned AG-2.

PUTNAM --- The Putnam Family Resource Center will present a free outdoor family movie, “Scoobi,” in Rotary Park at 7:30 p.m.

Particle Accelerator Fund-raiser
PUTNAM --- The Particle Accelerator music festival concert will be held entirely online. The event raises funds and awareness to support United Services, Inc. and to provide information and support for depression and suicide prevention. It also promotes music and civic engagement as a healthy alternative to drug and alcohol abuse among young adults. More information on the concert line up, schedule and where it can be viewed will be announced later on the concert’s Facebook page.

THOMPSON --- The Wyndham Land Trust will hold a hike on the Bull Hill Forest Project at 1 p.m. Bull Hill Road is located off Senexet Road in Woodstock. Drive respectfully to the end of Bull Hill Rd, and follow the sign, park at the gate. Walking is rather easy, about 2 mile total walk. Plan on an hour to an hour and a half. www.wyndhamlandtrust.org

Educational Walk
POMFRET --- An Educational Walk on the Townshend Preserve will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. This will be a short 15 minute uphill walk to the home site with time to explore the area. No dogs. Meet at the Preserve's gated entrance on Taft Pond Rd., Pomfret, just east of the 4-H Camp. Rain or shine. Preregistration is APPRECIATED to

WOODSTOCK --- A hike on the fields, woods and wetlands of the 154-acre Rapoport/Spalding Preserve will be held at 10 a.m. Rain or shine, this is a relatively easy and scenic 2 mile walk.
