CHARLESTON, S.C. — Samuel Hagan of Woodstock was named to the College of Charleston Spring 2024 President’s List. Hagan is majoring in accounting.
To qualify for the President’s List (Highly Distinguished), students must earn a GPA of 3.800 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 semester hours.
QUINEBAUG — Anastasi “Tasi” Vriga, 91, of Linda Lane, died June 12, 2024, at Day Kimball Hospital. Born in 1933 in Thompson, he was the son of the late Thimia and Dumnica (Vanghele) Vriga.
Mr. Vriga worked as the Deputy Commissioner of Veterans Affairs for the State of Connecticut. In his earlier years Tasi enjoyed golfing.
He leaves his sister, Louise Pavlech (Richard) of Broad Brook; his brother-in-law, Earl Bahl of Enfield; seven nieces and nephews, 10 grand nieces and nephews, and a great-grandniece. He was predeceased by his brother, Theodore Vriga and his sisters, Elizabeth Vriga and Lorraine Bahl.
The Funeral Service was June 17 in Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Webster with burial in West Thompson Cemetery. Donations: Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, P.O. Box 713, Webster, MA 01570. Valade Funeral Home & Crematory, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale.

On dean’s list
WORCESTER — Three local students were named to the WPI fall dean’s list: Vicente Bastura, from Pomfret Center, Class of 2027, majoring in mechanical engineering; Connor Dunkley, from Pomfret Center, Class of 2027, majoring in biology and biotechnology; Connor Quinn, from Woodstock, Class of 2025, majoring in electrical and computer engineering.
