DANIELSON — The Office of Marketing and Communications at Quinebaug Valley Community College recently received three Medallion Awards from the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations. The awards were presented at the NCMPR District 1 conference in Philadelphia.
QVCC received a Silver Medallion Award for Original Photography – a photo of a grateful scholarship recipient and the donor taken at Scholarship Night. The college also received two Bronze Medallion Awards in the E-cards category for last year’s holiday greeting card, and the Video Shorts category for the New Year’s Resolution to Tackle the Trail video.
The NCMPR Medallion Awards recognize outstanding achievement in design and communication at community and technical colleges. It is the only regional competition of its kind that honors excellence exclusively among marketing and PR professionals at two-year colleges.
QVCC’s Marketing Office is staffed by Susan Breault, director of marketing and communications; Margie Huoppi, coordinator of marketing services; and Jennifer Espeseth, graphics specialist.

Thanks to a grant received from The Community Foundation-Northeast Connecticut Women & Girls Fund, The Arc Quinebaug Valley will be able to continue a curriculum of classes on Positive Choices & Healthy Relationships for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Grant funds in the amount of $2,679 were provided to The Arc Quinebaug.
“The Community Foundation-Northeast Connecticut Women & Girls Fund continues to make a difference at The Arc Quinebaug Valley. These grant funds will be used for supplies and technology that will enhance a program The Arc currently offers, which empowers women and girls to make positive choices and gain knowledge of healthy relationships, domestic violence, family economic security, and more. We are extremely thankful to have the opportunity to continue this curriculum of classes in 2018.” said Susan Desrosiers, executive director of The Arc.
The Arc provides programs for individuals with intellectual, developmental and other life-affecting disabilities. Vocational, residential, recreation, education, day and retirement services offer opportunities for people with disabilities to reach their goals and be integral members of their community.
