Open house
PUTNAM — In celebration of the completion of the renovation of Putnam High School, the Putnam Board of will hold an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 21. All welcome.
This renovation features new classrooms, new science laboratories, a new gymnasium, as well as new and upgraded technology.
Tours will leave the Putnam High School gymnasium every 10 minutes beginning at 5:10 PM through 6:30 PM. The tours will last approximately 50 minutes. Parking is available in the rear of the high school. People should enter the school through the gymnasium entrance.
Thursday and Friday: No school - Happy Thanksgiving.
Woodstock public schools
Monday: Baked potatoes, broccoli, fruit. Tuesday: French toast sticks, hash browns, breakfast sausages, fruit. Wednesday: No school.
Putnam Elementary/Middle
Monday: Orange popcorn or chicken rice bowls, broccoli. Tuesday - Wolf Meal: Beef burgers, sherbet. Wednesday: Putnam Special Pizza, salad.
Putnam High
Monday: Cheese Lasagna or spicy chicken sandwiches. Tuesday: General Tsos chicken or bacon cheeseburgers. Wednesday: Pizza or buffalo chicken wraps.
Pomfret Community
Monday: Pizza, carrots, salad. Tuesday: Sweet and sour chicken, vegetable medley, fortune cookies. Wednesday: Toasted turkey and cheese sandwiches, veg tomato soup.

PUTNAM — Christine Peer, pre-certification/registration clerk has been named employee of the month for September at Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH).
Peer, who has some 20 years’ experience in the medical field, began her career with DKH in 2013 as a pre-certification/registration clerk in the physical medicine outpatient facility on South Main Street in Putnam. She relocated to the Plainfield office in 2015 and currently assists at both locations. In her role, Peer is responsible for greeting and registering patients, scheduling appointments, maintaining and updating patient information, as well as performing various administrative duties such as obtaining insurance authorizations, daily billing and answering phones.
Peer was born at Day Kimball Hospital and lives in Moosup with her husband and three children. She attended Quinebaug Valley Community College in Danielson where she earned her nurse’s aide certification in 2013 and phlebotomy certification in 2004. Over the years, Peer has volunteered for various local ambulance companies and for the past several years, she has served as a Medical Reserve Corp. member and volunteer for the Northeast District Department of Health where she assists with mass flu clinics and community disaster training within several local communities.
DANIELSON — Nov. 6 Mary Beth Sworin of the Savings Institute team presented two checks totaling $400 from the Savings Institute Bank & Trust Caring and Giving Campaign to Susan Desrosiers, executive director of The Arc Quinebaug Valley.
“The employees of the Savings Institute have continuously shown generosity and kindness to The Arc and its mission.” said Desrosiers.
For numerous years, the Savings Institute has supported The Arc.
The Arc provides programs for individuals with intellectual, developmental, and other life-affecting disabilities.
Vocational, residential, recreation, day and retirement services offer opportunities for people with disabilities to reach their goals and be integral members of their community.
These gifts will help to enhance supports provided by The Arc.
