PUTNAM — School Superintendent William Hull counted down the success of Putnam High School throughout the 2016/17 school year.
Accomplishments include:
Recent four-year graduation rate as announced by the state was 94 percent for Putnam High School.
This year 98 percent of students entering the year with senior status met all requirements for graduation
79 percent of Putnam High School graduating seniors were accepted at a two- or four-year college
70 percent of Putnam High School students participated in at least one school-based activity
58 percent of Putnam High School students participated in one or more of the school’s 13 sports offerings
The new robotics team received the Rookie All Star Award in the New England First District
The Putnam High School Marching Band placed in three band competitions
Ten new courses were added to the high school curriculum
Putnam High School now has six career pathways allowing students to gain career-based skills and move towards studying careers in areas such as Health, Business, Law Enforcement and Public Safety, Engineering, Manufacturing along with Art and Music
Putnam High School now offers 17 courses which allow students to potentially earn college credit
This year 24 seniors students received a total of $108, 250 in scholarship money
On May 6, alumni were inducted into the first class of Putnam High School Wall of Honor
Hull said: “We have had another wonderful year in the district and at Putnam High School. There are many ways to measure good schools. These recent accomplishments once again point to a school and school system on the move. Stay tuned for information in the fall concerning an Open House at the new high school. We cannot wait to show- off the new facility and to once again say thank you to the Putnam community for their continuing support.”

WORCESTER — May 13, 2017, three local students were awarded bachelor’s degrees at Worcester Polytechnic Institute: Ashley Stanley of Thompson was awarded a bachelor of science degree in business with distinction; Ian Converse of Woodstock was awarded a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering; Yu-sen Wu of Danielson was awarded a bachelor of science degree in robotics engineering with high distinction.

WILLIMANTIC — Eleven graduating seniors from Eastern Connecticut State University were recognized at the Honors Program Reception including Brittany Chabot ’17 of Dayville who majors in psychology.
The following charges were listed in the Putnam Police Department logs. The people charged are innocent until proven guilty in court. The Town Crier will publish dispositions of cases at the request of the accused. The dispositions must be accompanied by the proper documentation. The Putnam Police Department confidential Tip Line is 963-0000.
