Presenter
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Alison Horst, of Pomfret, was a presenter at Union College’s annual Steinmetz Symposium Day. Horst is a member of the Class of 2017. Held yearly since 1991, the symposium features an extensive array of oral presentations, posters, performances and exhibits, with concurrent sessions held all day in lieu of regularly scheduled classes. The evening includes a reception and musical performances.

WORCESTER — Two local students received master’s degrees at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute commencement May 11, 2017:
Christopher Tolentino of Woodstock was awarded a master of science degree in fire protection engineering; Steven Dupre of Pascoag was awarded a master of science degree in fire protection engineering.
Recognized
WILLIMANTIC — Eastern Connecticut State University’s English Department recently hosted English Night — students displayed research posters, showcased senior seminar presentations and were presented with awards for outstanding performance.
Jennine Hohler ’17 of Dayville was honored at the event. Hohler’s major is English. Hohler presented a project titled, “Aspergians Come in Peace,” accompanied by an oral presentation. The project was meant to raise awareness of Asperger’s Syndrome.

The first installment of taxes, due to the Town of Putnam, Special Service District, East Putnam Fire District and West Putnam District on the Grand List of October 1, 2016, is due and payable on July 1, 2017 through August 1, 2017.

Payments made after August 1ST 2017 will be subject to an interest charge of 3% (1.5% per month) or $2.00 minimum per Town and $2.00 per Special Service District, East Putnam Fire District and West Putnam District (where applicable), whichever is higher, according to Connecticut State Statute, Sec. 12-146.
Online payments can be made on current Grand List bills at the Town of Putnam website - www.putnamct.us after July 1, 2017.
