Relay For Life meeting is May 3
“Relay For Life of Northeastern CT is well on the way to having a successful event May 20 and 21. This will be the first year at the new location at the Brooklyn Fairgrounds and the first year joining the Woodstock and Plainfield events.
Any teams not yet registered are urged to register at the next meeting which will be held at 6 p.m. May 3 in the Killingly High School cafeteria, Teams can also register online by going to: Relayforlifenortheasternct.org and registering on line.
All team captains and co-captains should attend the May 3 meeting because, as Relay nears, information becomes more important to the teams. If a Team Captain, someone considering starting a team or those who want to know more about Relay For Life should attend the next meeting. For information call 860-928-5945 and leave a message.

Lions scholarship
POMFRET --- The Pomfret Lions Club will award three $1,000 scholarships to students who will attend a post-secondary educational institution during the 2017-18 academic year. To be eligible applicants must be residents of Pomfret and must complete and return an application before May 10. Applications are available from school guidance departments at Woodstock Academy, Putnam High, Killingly High, Pomfret School and Marianapolis Prep. An application may also be requested from the following address: Lions Club Scholarship, PO Box 224, Pomfret, CT 06258.
The application requires a school transcript, a reference, and several brief paragraphs in addition to personal information.

Collections
The April 2017 billing of water and /or sewer collections for the Town of Putnam WPCA is due and payable on May 1, 2017.
Payments made after May 1, 2017, will be subject to an interest charge for both water and sewer of 3 percent (1.5 percent per month) or $2.00 minimum whichever is higher, according to Connecticut State Statute SEC. 12-146.
Mail must be postmarked no later than May 1, 2017, to avoid interest charges.
