WOODSTOCK — Both Woodstock Academy teams took home 2-0 wins April 3.
For baseball it was coach Brian Murphy’s first career win as The Woodstock Academy’s skipper. David Redfield had a complete game shut out on the mound for the Centaurs. Alden Brennan had the game-winning hit scoring two in the 4th inning. Cal Wilcox, Luke Mathewson and Eric Preston threw around the leather for the Centaurs helping secure the 2-0 victory. Wilcox made some incredible catches from second base ranging into the outfield, Mathewson was strong at short stop making all of his plays including some big ones to get out of innings and Preston was incredible from behind the plate throwing out the only New London runner who attempted to steal and assisting the last out of the game when backing up first base on an over thrown ball firing a strike to second base when the New London runner attempted to advance.
It was the Hannah show for The Woodstock Academy Lady Centaurs softball team. It was Hannah Wotton who threw a one-hit shutout for the Lady Centaurs. Hannah Burgess, Mackenzie Stewart and Casidhe Hoyt were stellar in the field helping Wotton out on the mound. Finally it was Hannah #3 with a big stick for Woodstock, Hannah Chubbock went 3-4 at the plate and Mackenzie Stewart had the game-winning RBI with a sacrifice fly.
