Old Friends
It was a case of old friends in new places as three former Woodstock Academy indoor and outdoor track standouts met at a college meet in Boston. From left: Bella Sorrentino, who now competes for Southern Connecticut State University, got together with Tessa Brown (Bentley University) and Linsey Arends (University of Rhode Island) at the Riverhawk Invitational hosted by UMass-Lowell. Arends had a personal best in the 800m and attributed that to her former Centaur teammates cheering her on.

Principal announces retirement
PUTNAM --- Putnam Middle School announces the upcoming retirement of its esteemed principal, Dr. Teri Bruce, effective June 30.
Dr. Bruce has served as principal for the past 13 years. Hired in 2011, Dr. Bruce quickly established herself as a passionate and approachable leader. Renowned for knowing each student by name, she prioritized building individual relationships and creating a school atmosphere where everyone felt valued and supported. While excited about her retirement plans, Dr. Bruce said she remains committed to PMS, ensuring a smooth transition for her successor.

Boot drive and donation event set for Feb. 3
The Putnam Fire Department will be hosting a boot drive and donation event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 3 at the department on Church Street.
Why the drive you may ask. Jan. 23 another fire destroyed another home in Putnam leaving a family of three (a father and two children, ages 7 and 11) as well as a dog with no place to live as well as a total loss of the home’s contents.
Firefighters will accept monetary donations as well as donations of new toys for the kids, dog treats and dog toys.
They will also collect clothing.
Fire Chief Bob Campbell said, “They are looking for size large women’s clothing like leggings, shirts and sweatshirts. Size 7 1/2-8 shoes for women. Boy clothing size 7- he pretty much needs everything. Shoes size 13-1. and men’s clothing: size 36 pants, extra-large shirts, 10 1/2 shoes, and if we can get some personal items and toys and games for the kids, they are going to see there is a lot of support in this community.”
This position will report to the Revenue Collector and will perform a variety of professional, technical, and administrative work for inquiries and concerns regarding taxes. Responsible for processing, entering adjustments, receiving payments, and issuing receipts for taxes paid by residents. Assists in the preparation and processing of initial and all subsequent tax billings.
This full-time, hourly, union position is based on a set 35-hour work week schedule with a pay range of $17.96 - $26.97 per Town Hall Unit Union Contract rates. There is health, dental, pension and other benefits with this position. Vacation, personal leave, and sick leave accruals are applicable.
