WOODSTOCK — Working in partnership with the Woodstock CT Green Energy Team, The Woodstock Academy announced that two Electric Vehicle Charging Stations will be installed on campus.
In response to the overall increase in public interest and to provide additional benefit to students, families, and surrounding communities, The Academy will install two electric vehicle charging stations this spring. The stations will be in the main parking lot close to the maintenance garage.
“We are honored to partner with The Green Energy Team in Woodstock,” said Academy Headmaster Chris Sandford. “This Team has done amazing work in the area of solar and energy conservation around our community. Woodstock has been named a Connecticut Green Energy Community and we are proud to be a part of the efforts.”
The charging stations — two of five being introduced in the Town of Woodstock — are being installed for free on behalf of the CT Green Bank for the outstanding achievements made by the Woodstock Green Energy Commission in fostering clean renewable energy in Woodstock. Additional stations will be located at the middle school, elementary school, and the Town Hall.
The Woodstock CT Green Energy Team was officially established in 2008 as a town appointed committee whose primary responsibility includes the investigation of renewable energy options and ways the town and community can conserve energy. The Team is a member of the CT Clean Energy Program, and is chaired by Jim Stratos.
“Woodstock, as a community leader in clean renewable energy, is one of only two towns in the state whose energy consumption for all municipal buildings and public schools is 100 percent clean renewable energy,” Stratos said. “This was augmented with the recent one megawatt solar brownfield installation just added to the old discontinued 5-acre town landfill.”
PUTNAM — Putnam Science Academy has a new face in town as they return from holiday break as Kentrevious Jones, a 6-foot, 11-inch, 300-pound senior from Macon, Ga., has enrolled for the second half of the year.
After a strong summer with the Atlanta Express on the Under Armor AAU circuit Jones had numerous Division I offers. He decided to end his recruitment in the fall as he signed his National Letter of Intent to Big East powerhouse Xavier. He will be completing his high school career in the Quiet Corner of Connecticut with the Mustangs before heading there next fall.
On the court Jones will look to add a boost to an already loaded frontline that includes fellow Big East commit Darnell Brodie (Seton Hall), Isaac Kante, Alexis Yetna and Malik Ondigo. Putnam Science Head Coach Thomas Espinosa said Jones is a great fit as they look for continued success in the new year. “Kentrevious has great upside on the basketball court and off of it he is very well spoken young man who will fit right into the Putnam community.”
