Scholarship winner
Senior Collin Singleton of Eastford, right, received a 2016 CHET Advance Scholarship recently. 100 high school freshmen and 100 high school seniors from across Connecticut were awarded a scholarship. 2016 is the fourth year of the CHET Advance Scholarship program, which awards $2,500 scholarships to high school seniors and initial $2,000 scholarships to freshmen. The freshmen have the opportunity to receive an additional $500 if the student’s family saves $500 in a CHET account by the time the student goes to college. Make Your Own Vietnamese Pho Soup: Jan. 14 at the Pomfret Senior Center. 10:30 a.m. $10 per person. *Must register early, we cannot take walk ins for this class.
Pomfret Pollywog Basketball program for grades 1 and 2. This program runs from Jan. 7 through Feb. 11 at 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. in the PCS Gym. $30 per child. We are looking for volunteer coaching staff for this program, if you are interested; please contact the Pomfret Rec. office ASAP.
Men’s Over 30 Basketball: Sept. 3 – March 27 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Monday evenings at the PCS Gym. This is a pick-up style basketball. Men of all levels of fitness are welcome to attend. $25 per person
