Scholarships
WATERFORD — Charter Oak Federal Credit Union will present more than 40 scholarships totaling over $80,000 to student-members in New London and Windham counties in 2016. Student-members throughout the region are invited to apply for a college scholarship now through April 1. Grades will be taken into consideration; however, the student’s community involvement will be the deciding factor. This unique scholarship program will reward at least one high school senior from each eligible high school in New London and Windham counties with a $2,000 scholarship. Current college students are welcome to apply; their applications will be reviewed and scholarships will be awarded at Charter Oak’s discretion. For info, or the application, visit charteroak.org

Putnam Elementary/Middle
Monday: Grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup, Goldfish crackers, vegetables with ranch dressing. Tuesday - Breakfast for Lunch: French toast sticks, turkey sausages, warm baked spiced apples, hash browns. Wednesday: Chicken parmigiana, broccoli. Thursday: Fiesta Taco salad bowls, Spanish rice, Mexicali corn. Friday - half day: Putnam Special Pizza.
Putnam High
Monday: General Tsos Chicken, vegetable fried rice, broccoli. Tuesday: Shepherd Pie. Wednesday: Grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soup, Goldfish crackers, vegetable sticks with dip. Thursday: Buffalo style chicken, celery sticks. Friday - half day: Homemade calzones.
Intern
WILLIMANTIC — A number of Eastern students commit to student internships as an on-site practical work experience with a company or organization that can provide them with firsthand knowledge of a career field.
It is usually in the student's major.
Brittany Chabot ’16 of Dayville is working as an intern at EastConn’s Educational and Vocational Center. Chabot’s major is psychology.
Christmas Thanks
A local family of five enjoyed Christmas thanks to American Legion Post #13. The Post with an assist from the Putnam Family Resource Center was able to provide age appropriate toys, games and clothing as well as a complete meal as part of its community support program.
