Scholarship created
POMFRET — The Rectory School, an independent, coed junior boarding school (5-9) and day school (early childhood – 9th Grade), announced the creation of the Bigelow Scholarship. The Bigelow Scholarship will be awarded to two newly enrolling Grade 7 or Grade 8 students (one day, one boarding) who best embrace the ideals that John Bigelow (Rectory’s first student and second headmaster) sought in all students.
The application deadline is April 30 and the scholarship will be awarded by May 31. For more info go to www.rectoryschool.org.
Bigelow Scholarship for Day Student: Up to $5,000 per year.
Bigelow Scholarship for Boarding Student: Up to $20,000 per year.
Rectory’s current Headmaster, Fred Williams, said, “Rectory is proud to unite the legacy of the Bigelow family with the hopes for our future, as we recognize deserving children with the Bigelow Scholarship.”
Brush pickup set
PUTNAM — The Town will go curbside and chip brush 6 inches in diameter or smaller the week of April 25 through 29.
Have your brush out for pick up April 25 and the town will pick up brush same day as your curbside pick-up day.
No land clearing will be picked up by the Town.
Please put all brush and limbs by edge of property to be chipped.
Animal rescue fund-raiser
ASHFORD — Attack those closets!! Wings Of Freedom Animal Rescue is holding a fund-raiser by collecting unwanted shoes through May 10. All sizes & types, gently used or new.
