PUTNAM --- St. Mary's Church of the Visitiation will take parkt in a national effort by the Catholic church in a sacrament of Reconciliation during the Lenten season.
An All-Day Reconciliation Celebration will take place March 20 at St. Mary's on Providence Street.
Confessions will be heard from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and, according to committee member Adrienne Fournier, written instructions will be provided, both screen and face-to-face options, two priests will be available at all times and volunteers will be available to answer questions.
She stressed that it is private, free and (if you want) anonymous.
"The Light is on for You" is a campaign being promoted by the archdioceses of Boston and Washington, D.C., and the diocese of Worcester is launching a "Come Home to God's Mercy" campaign.
The diocese of Bridgeport is continuing its "Lenten Confession Campaign" from last year.
The initiatives are designed to welcome Catholics to the sacrament of Reconciliation by making it more accessible during Lent, said Fournier.
"We welcome home anyone in our area who has been away from the church" she said. The movement will promote healing and peace through the sacrament of Reconciliation during Lent.
