Phyllis A. Craw,

THOMPSON — Phyllis Aldora Craw, 85, formerly of Thompson, died June 2, 2010, after a long illness and is with her Lord and Savior. She was the wife of the late Walter Edison Craw. They were married Dec. 12, 1943. He died Oct. 22, 2004.
She was born Oct. 1, 1924, in Assam, India, the daughter of medical missionaries J. Riley and Anna Mary (McClure) Bailey.
She was a long time active member of the Putnam United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. Phyllis had made her home in Thompson for many years, involved with the Thompson PTA, was the Unit Chairman for the town of Thompson with the Salvation Army; She was a member of the Thompson Historical Society and was honored by the Thompson Lions Club as “Woman of the Year”.
She leaves her children: Peter Craw (Pat) of Barrington, N.H., Beverly Warner (Bill) of Thompson, Betsy Kaiser (Joe) of Hopkinton, Mass.; a sister, Barbara Crookshank of Royal Oak, Mich.; four grandchildren, Nolan Craw of Los Angeles, Curtis Warner (Susan) of Leicester, Mass., Austin Warner of Thompson, Ashley Kaiser of Hopkinton; nieces and nephews including her special niece Barbara Austin (Jim) of Willington. She was predeceased by a son, David Craw Dec. 16, 2006.
A Memorial Service was held June 7 in the Putnam United Methodist Church with burial in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y. Donations: Salvation Army, Southern New England Division, 55 Asylum Ave., Hartford, CT 06105. Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.
Beatrice Bebbington,

WOODSTOCK — Beatrice Goodwin Bebbington, 86, of Brickyard Road died May 30, 2010, in Matulaitis Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Bebbington who died in 1951. Born in 1923 in Stafford Springs, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Genevieve (Bicknell) Goodwin.
Mrs. Bebbington was employed at Mansfield State Training School for 23 years. A lifelong member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Woodstock, she became the first female deaconess of the church. Known to many as “Aunt Bea the Cookie Maker,” she pleased many with her baking. She enjoyed painting, gardening crocheting, and sewing. She also loved books and reading.
She leaves sons, Charles T. Bebbington of Fort White, Fla., and James Bebbington of Woodstock; daughters, Cynthia Bebbington-Lucia or Fort White, Linda Bebbington-Mannix (Thomas) of Plainfield, and Alice Bebbington-Knowles of Woodstock; brothers, Robert Goodwin (Marguerite) of Woodstock, Conrad Goodwin (Lorraine) of N. Windham, and Philip Goodwin of Woodstock; grandchildren, Richard Kivela (Carrie), Cassandra Johnson (Dr. Mark Johnson), Richard Santerre Jr., Charles Santerre (Chickie), Cynthia-Lin Knowles and Pv2 Byron Knowles; and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a grandson, Keith Knowles; sisters Ruth Dion, Emily Richards, Clara Ellson, Alice Hackenschmidt, and brothers, Ralph, Lawrence, and Arthur Goodwin.

Danny Stilu,

N. GROSVENORDALE — Danny T. Stilu, 59, of Marcy Lane, formerly of Putnam, died June 1, 2010, Tuesday at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after a long illness.
He was born March 31, 1951, in Putnam, son of the later Demitri and Myrtle (Chickering) Stilu. He had made his home in Putnam most of his life. Danny was an avid NASCAR fan. He had work as an automobile mechanic. He enjoyed fishing and in his youth Danny raced Go-Karts and won several races at the Tri-State Kart Club in Pomfret.
He leaves his sisters: Sheila Gough (Roland) of Woodstock, Tami LaBelle (Arthur) of N. Grosvenordale; nephews: Keith Herrick, James LaBelle; niece Angela LaBelle. Predeceased by a nephew Tige Herrick.

Brenda L. Ericson,

BROOKLYN — Brenda (Poirier) Ericson, 46, of Darby Road, died June 1, 2010, in Day Kimball Hospital. She was the wife of Jon C. Ericson. Born in 1963 in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Yvette (Bonneville) Poirier.
Mrs. Ericson worked as a personal care assistant for Allied Community Resources. She was a co-leader for the Girl Scouts Troop 65105 in Brooklyn, and enjoyed crocheting and karaoke.
In addition to her husband, Brenda leaves her daughters, Amber Foster (Willis) of St. Mary’s, Ga., and Jeanie Ericson of Brooklyn; sisters, Debra Wallace of Brooklyn and Lori Poirier of Brooklyn.

Paul Gregoire,

PUTNAM — Paul A. Gregoire, 71, formerly of Putnam, died unexpectedly May 30, 2010, at his daughter’s home. Paul was born Jan. 17, 1939, in Putnam, son of Lillian (Bonneville) Gregoire of Putnam and the late Leodore Gregoire.
Paul served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Wisconsin BB64. He worked for the Town of Putnam for several years and also for Electric Boat. He was a leather craftsman and loved fishing, hunting, and metal detecting. He was a member of the former Irish Club in Putnam.
He leaves his sons, Keith Gregoire of Brooklyn, Kevin Gregoire of East Hartford; daughters Denise Gregoire of Plainfield, Susan Gregoire of Moosup; brother Fran (Susan) Gregoire of Putnam, grandchildren: Robin (Ray) Moreau of Moosup, Spencer Amarante of Moosup, Brittany Gregoire of Plainfield, a great-granddaughter Sara Gregoire of Moosup.

Blanche LaFlamme,

N. GROSVENORDALE — Blanche M. LaFlamme, 88, of Riverside Drive died May 28, 2010, in William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich. Born in 1922 in N. Grosvenordale, she was the daughter of the late Medard and Florentine (Croteau) LaFlamme.
Mrs. LaFlamme worked in the inspection department for Colts Plastics and enjoyed bingo.
She leaves a sister, Eleanor Donais of Dudley; nieces, Jane Beno of N. Grosvenordale, and Marlene Carosi of Thompson; nephews, Ronald Donais of Alexandria, Va., Paul Donais and Donald Donais, both of Dudley; close friend, Lucy Bergeron of Grosvenordale. She was predeceased by her brother, Lionel J. LaFlamme Sr.; sister, Henriette LaFlamme; nephew Lionel J. LaFlamme Jr.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. June 17, in St. Joseph Church, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Valade Funeral Home, N. Grosvenordale.
Stanley C. Newland,

DANIELSON — Stanley C. Newland, 60, died May 25, 2010, at home. Stanley was the husband of Rhonda (Warren) Newland. They were married in 1974.
He was born Dec. 2, 1949, in Barton, Vt., son of the late Augustus and Cecile (Snelling) Newland.
Stanley was raised in Vermont with his family of 10 boys, before moving to Connecticut in the 1970s. He worked hard all his life in various manufacturing jobs. He enjoyed woodworking, and could fix about anything mechanical, especially automobiles.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Gene Newland of Rogers, Wayne Newland of Florida, Jeremy Newland of Danielson and April Newland of Oklahoma; brothers, Harold, Jack and Dennis; eight grandchildren.

ARDMORE, OK — Christina Marie (Shaw) Williams, 44, of Ardmore, formerly of Danielson, died May 31, 2010. She was born Feb. 7, 1966, in Putnam, daughter of Jeannette Nadeau Shaw of Putnam and the late Norman D. Shaw Jr.
She had worked at Foxwoods Casino for many years, moving to Oklahoma four years ago. She had a great love for animals and helped Sister Eleanor with cat and dog rescue for many years.
She leaves her mother, Jeannette; husband James Williams; children, William Thibeault of Danielson, Cassandra Thibeault of Ardmore, James Tetreault of Putnam; grandchildren: Angel Thibeault of Colchester; Kaylee Lamothe of Central Village; siblings: Dawn Marie Bates of Danielson, Norman Christopher Shaw (Lori) of Nashua, N.H., Bonnie Marie Shaw of Putnam, Jason Daniel Shaw (Pam) of Dayville.
Calling hours will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. June 14 at Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam, followed by an 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church of the Visitation, Putnam, with burial in Westfield Cemetery, Danielson. Ronald G. Collins,

ABINGTON --- Ronald G. Collins, 42, of Mashamoquet Road died June 2, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital after a nine-month battle with cancer.
He was born Sept. 1, 1967, the son of Merle H. Collins and his wife Rosemary Collins of Ashford and the late Mildred (Scott) Collins.
Ronald worked in the food industry for 25 years.
He loved cooking for family picnics and holidays and enjoyed gardening. He loved the outdoors.
He was the single father of three children, Brian LaVigne, Kaycee Collins and Hunter Collins, all of Abington. Other survivors include: his lifetime love Charlene Shippee; his brothers, Michael Collins (Rebecca) of Canterbury and Patrick Collins (Kim) of Brooklyn; three nephews, Lance and Patrick Collins, both of Danielson and Nico Collins of Woodstock; four nieces, Amanda Collins of Brooklyn, Stacey Collins of Canterbury, Katie and Dani Collins of Woodstock and one great niece Hailey Collins of Brooklyn. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Collins in 2004.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. June 9 in Tillinghast Funeral Home, 433 Main St., Danielso, with a Memorial Service at 7:30 p.m.
A Graveside Service will beat 10 a.m. June 10 in Abington Cemetery, Pomfret.
