Annual Meeting

POMFRET --- The annual  board meeting for Performing Arts of Northeast Connecticut was anything but normal with retirements and awards.
Retiring from the board after 36 years as the administrator of Performing Arts of NE CT, Betty Hale, of Pomfret was presented with many honorary accolades.
Her Excellency M. Jodi Rell, Governor, officially conveying honor and recognition upon Betty Hale in a document presented by Nancy P. Weiss, chairman of Opera New England of Northeastern CT, Inc. d/b/a Performing Arts of Northeast Connecticut. State Representative Mike Albert presented Hale with an Official  Citation in recognition of more than 35 years as the driving force behind Performing Arts of NECT. The Citation was introduced by Sen. Donald Williams Jr., 29th District; Senator Tony Guglielmo, 29th District; Representative Shawn T. Johnston, 52st District; and Representative Mike Alberts, 50th District. Pomfret Selectman, Tony Emilio presented Betty with a proclamation deeming June 4 as Betty Hale Day in Pomfret.
Hale  was also given two Memory Books beautifully compilled by Wendy Bradley of Woodstock. One of personal notes from board members, pictures and memoribellia from past performances, and one complete of notes from school children who attended P/Arts performances this year bidding her farewell.
Also retiring after many years of dedicated volunteering were Weiss of Pomfret, who served as chairman for over 20+years and has been active in the organization for over 30. Kathleen Hogan of Brooklyn also retired after prisiding as treasurer for more than 15 years.
The new chair is Lindsay Paul of Woodstock.
Among all the awards and accolades, the highlight of the evening was a musical presentation by the Morning Doves from Pomfret Community School.
Newly inducted member of the board are Marcia Williams, Rich Galante, and Ann Hinchman of Pomfret; Jay Cantor and Holly Dearborne of Woodstock, Barbara Lussier of Putnam, Bette MacDonald and Lorraine McDevitt of Willimantic and Kay Holt (Emerita) of Mansfield.
