Dairy Exhibit
WOODSTOCK --- "Farmers, Cows and the Land," an exhibition about the modern history of dairy farming in Connecticut, is on display at the Roseland Cottage carriage barn through Oct. 15, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Free.
Fun Run

Puppetry Exhibit

POMFRET --- The Mashamoquet Brook State Park will present a free 4-mile hike on the Blue Trail at 9:30 a.m. starting from the Wolf Den Campground parking lot. 2 hours, moderate hike. 860-928-6121.
Car Cruise
PUTNAM --- The Tri-State Cruisers hold their car cruise from 4 to 8 p.m. every Saturday at the Super Stop & Shop parking lot on Rt. 44.

Happy Birthday, America!
Jamboree
E. WOODSTOCK --- The 54th Fourth of July Jamboree will be held all day on the East Woodstock Common. An old fashioned celebration of our independence featuring a chicken barbecue at 11:30 a.m. and parade at 2 p.m. The Jamboree is a major fund-raiser for the church; all the money raised supports our programs of Christian Education, music, and community outreach. Public welcome. Parking, admission free.
Nature Hike

POMFRET --- The Pomfret Seniors Association will have a pizza picnic luncheon meeting at noon at the Pomfret Senior Center on Mashamoquet Road. Bring dessert and $2 donation to Memorial Fund. All Pomfret seniors welcome.

PUTNAM --- The town of Putnam, with generous sponsorship from Wheelabrator Putnam, Inc. and Putnam Bank, will present Opera al Fresco - 2010, at 7:30 p.m. at Rotary Park. During intermission, River Fire begins. Rain date: July 18. Free.
Encampment
BROOKLYN --- The Sarah Williams Danielson Chapter, Daughters of The American Revolution, and the 5th Connecticut Regiment and His Majesty’s 54th Regiment of Foot, will present a recreation of the daily life of Revolutionary War soldiers beginning at 10 a.m. Skirmish at 2 p.m. Colonial history enthusiasts are encouraged to stop by in the evening July 16 to watch the troops set up tents and create fire pits.
