Charles ‘Gordon
Dingwell
POMFRET CENTER — Charles “Gordon” Dingwell, 58, of Orchard Hill Road, died May 1, 2011, at home.
He was born on April 18, 195,3 in Willimantic, son of Stanley H. and Virginia (Tripp) Dingwell. He was a lifelong resident of Pomfret where he raised his family. Gordon worked hard as a truck driver and played harder as an avid outdoorsman and family man. He loved to hunt and fish and was a member of Teamsters Local 493.
He leaves his father Stanley; children, Loren Dingwell (Jessica) of Dayville, Chuck Dingwell and his significant other Heather Cutler of Pomfret Center, Merrianne Dingwell and her significant other Robert Lewis of S. Killingly and Megan Dingwell of Danielson, along with their mother Mim Dingwell; grandchildren McKayla, Kassadee and Xander Lewis, Sydnee and Molly Dingwell, Nathan and Jacob Cutler; siblings, Jamie Dingwell (Jan) of Pomfret Center, Cheryl Dingwell of Willimantic. He was predeceased by his mother Virginia.

Dale R. Trahan,

DANIELSON — Dale Trahan, 48, of Broad Street, died unexpectedly April 30, 2011.  Born July 9, 1962, in Putnam, he was the son of Anita (Beal) Trahan-White and Roland White of Acton, Maine and the late Richard A. Trahan.
Mr. Trahan worked as a self-employed carpenter.
In addition to his mother and stepfather, he leaves his maternal grandmother Charlene Beal-Wagner of Addison, Maine; brother, Richard Trahan; sisters, Trenda Kinney and and Faylene Tiffany, all of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; nieces Trina Chandler of  Connecticut, and Tanya Tiffany and Crystal Kowalsky, both of Florida; nephews, Matthew Kowalsky of Maine and Richard Trahan, Nick Trahan, and James Beaudoin, all of Connecticut. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather Roland Beal.

Lillian Ducharme,

 PUTNAM — Lillian M. Ducharme of Putnam died May 8, 2011.
She was born Sept. 24, 1921, daughter of the late Raymond and Pearl [Carl] Jodoin. She last worked for Wyckoff Steel Company as the executive secretary for over 30 years prior to her retirement. Lillian also worked for the Putnam Foundry, The Lab at Belding Heminway and as the first secretary of Putnam’s radio station WPCT [now WINY]. After her retirement, she devoted her life to helping others through her various charitable works.
Lillian was a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation and was involved in several ministries including the Council of Catholic Women, Daughters of Isabella and as a volunteer in the Visitation Ministries. She was also a life member of Auxiliary Post 1523 of the VFW.
She leaves her son Carl of Pomfret; three near-sons, Craig LaRoe and Michael Milette of Pomfret and Gerard Andrews of Putnam; one near-daughter, Dolores Kneeland of Thompson; sisters Mary [David] Poulin of St. Petersburg, Fla., Teresa [David] Shirey of Oro Valley, Ariz.; brother, Norman [Rosemarie] Jodoin of Newburgh, N.Y. Lillian was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Adelard “Del” Ducharme;  sisters Doris Madden, Irene Matteson, Frances Steinbrick and Helen Corcoran; brothers, Theodore Jodoin, Raymond Jodoin Jr. and William Jodoin.
Visitation is from 7 to 9 p.m. May 13 at Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam. The Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. May 14 the funeral home, with a Mass of Christian Burial at noon in St. Mary Church of the Visitation and burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Irene Murree,

DAYVILLE — Irene A. (Beaudoin) (Cutler) Murree, 67, of Dayville went to be with the Lord May 2, 2011, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Wife of David F. Murree, they were married June 29, 1996.
She was born June 2, 1943, in Attawaugan, daughter of the late Gideon and Albina (Bourque) Beaudoin.
She worked for local textile mills, loved to play bingo and enjoyed her trips to Foxwoods. Irene was an avid bowler and a diehard Red Sox fan. She loved to dance where she met the love of her life David. Irene enjoyed her vacations to the White Mountains in New Hampshire with David. She was a member of High Pointe Church in Thompson where she was baptized in 2009.
She leaves her husband David; children, Ernest Cutler (Nancy) of Virginia, Ann Murphy (Dale, Sr.) of Dayville, Theresa Cutler of Thompson, Alice Cutler of Thompson; sister, Roseanna Lalumiere of Danielson; nine  grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her two brothers and a sister, Ernest Beaudoin, Edward Beaudoin, Albina Martel.

Bruno B. Kneier,

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Bruno B. Kneier, 74, died May 1, 2011, at his home in Cape Coral.
Born Oct. 27, 1936, in Hannover, Germany, he was the son of the late Bruno B. Kneier and Erna (Czerionke) Kneier.
Mr. Kneier worked for many years in Germany before coming to the U.S. in 1972.  The last 10 years, while there, he was in the Merchant Marines and on cruise lines where he met his wife, Ruth.
After coming to the U.S., he worked at International Paper in Putnam, Galileo Fiber-Optics in Southbridge, and AMOCO Container in Worcester. Later, having moved to Monroe, Ga., he continued working for AMOCO Container and then for Griffith Laboratories in Lithonia, Ga.
He retired in 1999 and moved to Cape Coral.  He enjoyed his life in the sun and warmth.
He leaves his wife of 39 years, Ruth (Tourtellotte) Kneier of Cape Coral; daughters, Stephanie Kneier and fiancĂ©, Don Cochran, Oakdale, and Kerstin Kneier, Putnam; sister, Monika Mueller and brother, Michael Kneier, both of Germany; a nephew and three nieces and several great-nieces and great-nephews.  He was predeceased by his brother, Horst Kneier and a niece.
As he wished, no service is planned.  He wanted his ashes spread “in a warm ocean” and this will be done at a later date.  

Samuel Miller,

DAYVILLE — Samuel RobertJohn Miller, 20, of Country Club Road, died  May 1, 2011. Son of Johnathan David and Virginia (Emerson) Miller, he was born March 23, 1991, in New London.
He was home schooled and graduated from high school in 2008. He was an active member with the High Pointe Church and the Creation Church, both in Thompson. Samuel suffered for several years with epilepsy and mental illness; he would reach out to others even though he was hurting. Although Samuel lost hope, there is hope and help available, at www.MAMI.org and the www.EFA.org
He leaves his father and mother David and Ginny Miller of Dayville; sister, Anna Miller of Dayville; maternal grandparents, Bruce Evans and Judith Emerson, both of Jacksonville, Vt.; paternal grandparents John and Hope Miller of Louisville, Ky.; aunts, Ruth Morgan of Waterloo, Iowa, and Deborah Emerson of West Cummington, Mass.

George C. Long,
Korean war vet
THOMPSON ---  George C. Long, 81, died April 27, 2011, in UMass Memorial Medical Center-University Campus, Worcester, after an illness.
He was born in Wallingford, the son of the late Calvin and the late Alice ( Strickland ) Long. He grew up in Killingly. George lived most of his life in East Putnam  before making his home with the Bourbeaus . He worked as a heavy equipment operator for  the town of Putnam retiring 1987. He served in the Army during the Korean War .
He was a 30-year member of the East Putnam Fire Dept.  In his retirement  he enjoyed his hobby shop doing welding and repairs .  He was an avid fisherman all his life and enjoyed playing cards.  He leaves his niece, Ann Bourbeau  and her husband Roland of Thompson; his great-nephews Matthew  and Joshua Bourbeau. Predeceased by his wife Marge (Shippee) Long. He also leaves his faithful dog Suzy. Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, Dudley.

Shirley Mary
Provencher
DAYVILLE — Shirley Provencher, 76, of Lake Rd, died May 5, 2011, at home after a battle with cancer.  She took part  in the Dana Farber clinical trials for 10 years.  Shirley was the wife of Richard Provencher. Richard dedicated the past 18 months exclusively to take care of his wife, and insure her comfort. They were married Oct. 1st 1953. 
Shirley was the youngest of 11 children. She was born Dec. 13, 1934, at home on the family farm in Woodstock, to the late Leon and Antonia (Bigda) Zulkiewicz. 
Shirley dedicated her life to her family and her home. She was the bookkeeper for the family business for 50 years.  Shirley loved flower gardening, nature, being outdoors, dancing, and she was very talented at crocheting.
 In addition to her husband, she leaves sons Richard (Ellen Marie) of Pomfret, Brian and Dale of Dayville, Kim and his fiancĂ© April Landry of Grosvenordale; sisters, Adele Jankot and Cecilia Desautels; brothers Leo and Fred; special friend, Theresa Sutton of Fairhaven, Mass. She was predeceased by siblings Joseph, Millie, Julie, Helen, Toni and Frank.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. May 11 at  Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St. Putnam.
