POMFRET — The Pomfret Youth Lacrosse Boys Junior B Team travelled to league-leading Glastonbury on May 5 and came out on the wrong side of a 8-6 score. Pomfret played its best game to date, battling back twice from two-goal deficits to keep the contest close. Glastonbury held a narrow one-goal lead with just over a minute remaining when Pomfret attempted to strip the ball on a clear as a Glastonbury midfielder ran the length of the field and buried a shot to put the game out of reach.
Ryan Black led all scorers as he finished with two goals and one assist. Fellow midfielder Peyton Durand added two goals of his own while Tucker Sheehan finished with one goal and one assist. On the attack, Christian Santangini rounded out the scoring with a goal and one assist. Josh Bernier and Corbin Schneider played a great game at attack as they moved the ball with confidence and forced many turnovers.
On defense, Cal Wilcox returned to the lineup and played a strong, aggressive game. Connor Quinn was instrumental at close defense as he led numerous Pomfret clears. Ryan Gravier played his first game at defense and picked up several key groundballs. In the goal, Josh McFadden played another great game with seven saves.
In a May 7 home game, the team rebounded with a solid 8-0 victory over RHAM (Regional Hebron, Andover and Marlborough).  Goalies Josh McFadden and Marcos Castillo shared the shutout with the help of defensemen Lex Bosio, Ryan Gravier, Josh Bernier, and Carson Hadley.
Pomfret midfielder Max Paro started the scoring off on a nice feed from Corbin Schneider.  Then, just before the first quarter whistle, Tucker Sheehan found the back of the net on a pretty give-and-go assist from Paro.  In the second quarter, Sheehan would score two more goals on assists from Mason Defocy and Colin LeSage.  Paro would also add an unassisted goal to make it a 5-0 halftime lead.
In the second half, Paro would notch his third of the afternoon and then assisted later in the period on a Josh McFadden quick stick past the RHAM goalie.  Connor Quinn finished off the game’s scoring off a perfect feed from Sheehan.
Though not in the scoring column, midfielders Peyton Durand, Nick Alessandro, Isaiah Price, and William Liscomb logged a lot of playing time and contributed with strong defensive play, good transitions up field and numerous ground-balls.
The team’s record is now 2-2; they will next have a rematch with Vernon at 6:30 on May 13 at home.
