Little Leagues
PUTNAM — Jacob Guertin pitched six strong innings, striking out six Killingly batters, leading the Putnam Junior Boys to their first win of the 2011 season. Jacob also hit a double and scored two runs. Josh Allard led the offense going 3-4 and scoring two runs for Putnam in the 8-2 win.
Nicholas Foucault, Putnam’s shortstop, got on base four times and scored two runs. Nick also came on in relief as the pitcher for the final inning. Steven Dakai went 2-4, JonLuc Cournoyer 2-3 with two RBIs, Brevon Harmon went 2-4 and stole a base.
Putnam’s defense was rock solid all day allowing only four base runners into scoring position. Kyle Loomis caught for Putnam and worked a perfect rundown of a Killingly runner trying to steal home in the final inning. Putnam travels to Brooklyn next week and looks to improve on their 1-1 record.
