Golf tourney
raises about
$20,000
DANIELSON — The Northeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce 23rd Annual Golf Invitational is expected to raise about $20,000, according to tournament Chairman Donald St.Onge.
“The beautiful weather almost upstaged the golf itself. We are very grateful to the golfers and members of the business community who year after year support our tournament.” It is one of the chamber’s largest fund-raisers of the year. Proceeds from the event will assist with operating expenses for the Chamber and fund scholarships for students attending Quinebaug Valley Community College.
Finishing in first place with a score of 16 under par was the team from New England Plasma of Putnam composed of Peter Olshewski, Kevin Fries, Craig Fries and Jared Meehan. The Wireless Zone placed second with a 12 under par score of 60 thanks to the team of Chris Krushefsky, Joe Salan, Rich Denesha and Peter Zulli. Third place was awarded to the Giant Pizza team of Arben Abdullovski, Frank Abdullovski, Adam Faucher and Scott Wilcox who finished with a score of 11 under par.
Craig Fries picked up prizes for closest to the pin contests for hole number 3 and 7. Kevin Fries picked up the closest to the pin prize for hole number 13 with a measurement of 23 inches. Rocky Bedard of Plainfield won the contest for hole number 15. Longest drive contests were awarded to Nancy Cole and Brian Bardier.
Chamber President Jay Sinha acknowledged the hard work of committee members including: Chairman Donald St.Onge, Jeff Bousquet, David Conrad, Peter Deary, Robert Fournier, Don King and Doug Valentine.
