Muriel Klemola,

ELIOT — Muriel Ann (Mimi) Klemola, 72, of the Eliot section of Pomfret, died June 18, 2011, at Matulaitis Nursing Home. She was the widow of Allan M. Klemola who died in 1992.
She was born Dec. 18, 1938, in Hartford, daughter of the late Norton and Viola (Dingwell) Warner and grew up in Gilead.  She and Allan had made their home in Pomfret since 1958, and she had worked as a cook at the Pomfret Community School for over 15 years.  Mimi was a member of the Abington Congregational Church, where she was a Sunday school superintendent and a teacher, and a member of its Women’s Guild.  She was a lifelong member of the Wolf Den Grange, and received their Golden Sheaf Award for 50 years of membership.  Mimi was a cat lover, enjoyed puzzles, and trips to Cape Cod.  In her youth she was a member of an accordion band and was a Rainbow Girl.  She was active with the Girl Scout Troop #5133 in Pomfret, serving as a leader for several years.
She leaves her son, Richard (Cindy (Knight)) Klemola of Pomfret Center; her daughter Kimberly Mele (Vincent) of Torrington; two brothers, Charles Warner of Stuart, Fla., and Robert Warner of Gilead; three grandsons: James and Jeffery Mele and Andrew Klemola. She was predeceased by a sister Carol Houghton. 
The Funeral was June 25 at the Abington Congregational Church with burial in Abington Cemetery. Donations: Wolf Den Grange, 772 Hampton Road; or the Pomfret  Ambulance Service, 67 Hampton Road, both in Pomfret Center, CT 06259. Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.

Jeanne (Lizotte)
Morrell
PUTNAM — Jeanne (Lizotte) Morrell, 92, formerly of Myers Street, died June 25, 2011,  in Westview Healthcare Center.  Born in 1919 in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Maria (Robillard) Lizotte.
Mrs. Morrell worked as a clerk for several drug stores in the Putnam area.
She leaves her sisters, Annette Polanski of Dayville and Pauline Cotnoir of Delaware; and her friend and caregiver, Donna Casko of Putnam.  She was predeceased by a brother, Gerard Lizotte and sisters, Lorena Welden, Lucille Casko, and Rita Chicoine.               
Visitation is at 9 a.m. June 30 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church of the Visitation with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. 

Isabelle Bellisario,

ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla. — Isabelle Anna Bellisario, “Miss Izzy,” 90, died June 17, 2011, at the home of her daughter where she lived in Atlantic Beach
Born Aug. 15, 1920, in Packerville, she graduated from Plainfield High School and married in 1941. She lived most of her life in Connecticut and traveled often with friends and family.
Throughout her life, she was active in the community, healthcare, the church, school and other activities.  She also volunteered for many civic organizations including the Girl Scouts of America, the Red Cross, and the Republican Club of the Beaches.
She leaves  six children: Toni (Dudley) Van Orman, Joseph (Diane) Bellisario, Sharon Fisher, Judy (Gary) Courtemanche, Patrick (Karis) Bellisario and Michael (Eileen) Bellisario; 20 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Elizabeth Bartholic, three brothers, Leroy, William and James Bartholic and her husband, Henry Bellisario.
Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. June 29 in Valade Funeral Home, 20 Main St., N. Grosvenordale, with a Funeral Service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial follows at W. Thompson Cemetery.

Muriel Eddy,

WOODSTOCK — Muriel M. Eddy, 82, of Woodstock, died June, 18, 2011, at home. Born on April 2, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Albert W. and May (Frost) Durrin. She was married to Byron Eddy for 55 years before he died in 2008.
A graduate of Woodstock Academy, Muriel worked as a secretary at Belding Heminway in Putnam and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in E. Hartford. She lived in W. Hartford and Miami before returning back to Woodstock where she remained. As a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church of Woodstock, she was involved with the Women’s Fellowship, was an active member of the Woodstock Republicans, and volunteered at Day Kimball Hospital. Muriel traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe with her family, enjoyed bird watching and was an avid UConn women’s basketball fan.
She leaves her son, Ross Eddy (Susan C.) of Thompson; daughters, Susan Durrin (Eddy) Motley (Robert) of Woodstock, and Diane Siegmund (Kurt) of Pomfret; six grandchildren, Rebecca, Jonathan and Julia Eddy, Isabelle and Robert Motley and Clara Siegmund; her Westie, Angus. Muriel was predeceased by her sister, Norine Anderson and a brother, Albert Durrin.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. July 9 at the First Congregational Church in Woodstock. A private burial was already held at Elmvale Cemetery in Woodstock. Donations: Woodstock Academy Foundation, 57 Academy Road, Woodstock, CT 06281. Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.

Maurice Bowen,

BROOKLYN — Maurice Francis Bowen, 77, of Brooklyn died June 20, 2011.  He was the husband of Eleanor F. Bowen. He was born Nov. 14, 1933, in Waterbury, to Francis and Margaret Bowen.
Maury graduated from UConn with a degree in industrial engineering. Maury served his country as a first lieutenant in the Army. He spent four years in France. He returned to his native Connecticut in 1960.  He worked at Rogers Corporation from 1966 to 1991.
He served six years on the Board of Education, four years on the Board of Finance, nine years as a selectman and six years as the first selectman. Highlights of his political career include: replacing the Wolf heads on the Israel Putnam statue, establishing the Korean and Vietnam memorials, obtaining the property for the Riverwalk, and his 10 years of dedication to get Brooklyn one zip code. He was instrumental in raising over $50,000 to restore the steeple on the Old Brooklyn Meeting House. He taught at Quinebaug Valley Community College and he was on the building commission for the Brooklyn Town Library. He especially loved his summers in Gloucester, Mass., which was like a second home to him.
He leaves his wife of 57 years, Eleanor; three daughters, Maura Bowen, Stacey (David) Katz, Thera (Andy) Stack, and his daughter-in-law, Cheryl Bowen; three sisters, Margie Farren, Arelene Sullivan and Marilyn Nicholson; eight grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Gregory Charles Bowen.

Doris L. LaBonte,

PUTNAM — Doris L. (Larose) LaBonte, 86, of Thurber Road, died June 25, 2011, in Matulaitis Nursing Home.  She was the wife of the late Raymond LaBonte.  Born in 1924 in N. Grosvenordale, she was the daughter of the late Adelard and Emma (Dutremble) Larose.
Mrs. LaBonte worked as a machinist for Cluett-Peabody, Belding Heminway, and Crabtree & Evelyn. She enjoyed reading her Danielle Steel novels and doing her Search A Word.  She liked EWTN with the Masses and Divine Mercy in the afternoon. 
She leaves her son, Gerald LaBonte (Diane) of Richmond, Va.; daughter, Constance Olmstead (Paul) of Putnam; sister, Theresa Lajoie of N. Grosvenordale; grandchildren, Mary, Melissa, Lisa, Matthew, and Lauren and great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jordan.
She was predeceased by her sister, Beatrice Larose; and her grandchildren, Christy and Raymond Olmstead.
Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m. June 30 in Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale.  A Mass of Christian Burial is at 11 a.m. June 30 in St. Joseph Church,  N. Grosvenordale, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Nora Byrne,

CHEPACHET — Nora Byrne, 95, resident of Chepachet, died June 19, 2011, at the Village at Waterman Lake in Greenville, R.I. She was the wife of Brendan Byrne who died Jan. 20, 2000.
She was born Oct. 30, 1915, in Putnam, daughter to the late Amedeo & Robelinda (Meotti) Zamagni.
Nora was a receptionist for 20 years for the former Putnam Hertzel Finishing Co, retiring in 1978; previously she worked as a mender for the former Putnam Woolen Mill for 20 years. A resident of Chepachet since 1964, previously living in Putnam where she lived most of her life.
She leaves her brother William Zamagni Sr. (Barbara); nephews, Robert Rovatti (Sandra), William Zamagni Jr. (Kathleen), Charles Zamagni (Nancy), Arthur Zamagni; nieces, Pamela Coderre (Maurice), Themis Waddington, Penelope Zamagni and her husband Rob Baskerville, and Sue Zamagni. She was predeceased by her first husband Francis “Bob” Goglinski, brother Arthur Zamagni and sister Elaine Rovatti.
