WOODSTOCK — Broadway Live Productions will present a musical spectacular, “Divias in Concert," at 8 p.m. Aug. 12 and 13 at the Hyde Cultural Centerto benefit Day Kimball Healthcare’s (DKH) Deary Memorial Cancer Fund and Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Connecticut.

DIVAS in Concert will feature 13 talented female performers backed by an orchestra comprised of members of the Hartford Symphony and lead by renowned director Walter Gwardyak, Dean of Music for The Hartford Conservatory and Director of the New England Jazz ensemble. Local DKH physician Erica Kesselman will serve as mistress of ceremonies.

The project is spearheaded by Director David T. Panteleakos, owner of Broadway Live Productions. Panteleakos created the production company in 2000 to provide an outlet for creative endeavors that would also benefit good causes. “We’re proud to lend a creative hand when it comes to helping others,” said Panteleakos. “We enjoy entertaining audiences and also empowering them to make a difference. The concept seems to work because since the inception of BLP, we’ve raised over $500,000 to benefit local charities...and we’ve had a lot of fun doing it.”
The performances benefit: * Day Kimball Healthcare’s Deary Memorial Cancer Fund, which provides preventive care and cancer-related services to individuals in northeast CT who otherwise may not have the financial resources available to obtain needed medical attention. Concert efforts will support the 22nd annual Deary Memorial Race/Walk/Ride, which has become a hallmark community event since it began in 1990.
* Habitat for Humanity® of Northeast Connecticut – the local chapter of the international organization that builds homes. Hundreds of volunteers have helped to build more than a dozen homes in the Quiet Corner since 1995. Concert efforts will support their latest Habitat build in Brooklyn, CT.
DIVAS in Concert is written by Linda J. Colangelo and produced by Laura Crosetti. The creative team also includes Walter Gwardyak, Music Director/Arrangements; Keri Danner, Choreography; Gregg Bugbee, Sound Design Engineer; Tammy Dexter, Lighting Coordinator and James Kellaway, Video Production.
