William Farber III,
church member
WOODSTOCK— William James Farber III, 61, of Woodstock, died July 31, 2011, at Regency Heights in Danielson.
He was born Oct. 11, 1949, in Putnam, son of the late Alden (Shepard) and William J. Farber Jr. William graduated from Woodstock Academy in 1968. He loved to play soccer.
He was in the Boy Scouts Explorer’s Troop 27 Woodstock. He attended Thames Valley Community College in Norwich. He was a member of the Woodstock Congregational Church.
He leaves his son Andrew Farber of Poultney, Vt.; brother Phillip Farber (Patti Writerite) of Portland, Ore.; sister Jane E. Farber of Woodstock; grandson Devon Palumbo of Danielson. He was predeceased by a daughter Ellen Farber; she died in 2010.
Burial was in Woodstock Hill Cemetery. Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.
Elvira G. Wilde,

PROVIDENCE — Elvira (Greenleaf) Wilde, 87, of Randall Street, died Aug. 2, 2011, in Rhode Island Hospital.
Born in 1923 in Plymouth, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Walter and Tina (Nutting) Greenleaf.
Mrs. Wilde was a homemaker. She enjoyed music and dancing.
She leaves her daughter, Patricia Babbitt (Wesley) of Lawrence, Mass.; son, Robert Wilde (Lori Ann) of N. Providence; grandchildren, Wesley W. Babbitt, and Geoffrey Babbitt. She was predeceased by her sisters, Waltina Young and Lurleen Collins.
The Funeral Service was Aug. 8 at Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, with burial in Munyan Cemetery.

Carol A. Briere,
social worker
DANIELSON — Carol A. Briere, 66, of Cook Hill Road, died July 23, 2011, at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester. She was born Feb. 26, 1945, in Putnam, daughter of the late Albert and Diana (Levesque) Plante.
She was the wife of the late Ernest R. Briere who died June 9, 2001.
Mrs. Briere worked as a hairdresser for many years, worked in food service at Killingly Central School, earned an associate’s degree in human services from QVCC and worked as a social worker with the Dept. of Corrections in Brooklyn.
In her later years she was a home healthcare provider.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Dayville where she taught CCD.
She leaves her sons, Ronald D. Briere of Putnam, Brian R. Briere of Dayville and Darrin E. Briere of Pascoag, R.I.; three grandchildren, Cody Briere, Kelsie Briere and Jordan Briere. She was predeceased by her sister Lillian Barbeau.
A Mass of Christian Burial was July 28 in St. Joseph’s Church, Dayville, with burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Tillinghast Funeral Home, Danielson on.
Isaiah Fisher Jr.,

THOMPSON — Isaiah J. Fisher Jr., 83, of Starr Road, died Aug. 8, 2011, at home.
He was born in Westminster, Mass.,, son of the late Isaiah J. Sr. and Georgina (LaFrenier) Fisher and lived in Worcester before moving to Thompson. He was a retired bus driver having worked many years at W.R.T.A. He was a member of the Whitinsville VFW.
He leaves his wife of 59 years, Thelma L. (Schofield) Fisher of Thompson; seven sons, Isaiah J. Fisher III of Upton, Mass., Elmer Fisher of Maryland, Russell Fisher of Grafton, Paul Fisher of Millbury, Ashley Fisher of Worcester and Roy Fisher of Worcester; six daughters, Lena Comer of Worcester, Dorothy Martel of Worcester, Gladys Zachariewicz of Thompson, Veronica Martel of Worcester, June Denham of Millbury and Angela Neally of Lexington, N.C.; one sister, Eva Casino of W. Boylston, Mass.; 31 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

L. ‘Sonny’ Hubert,
Vietnam vet
DANIELSON – Leonide “Sonny” Hubert, 65, of Rock Avenue, died July 26, 2011, at home.
He was born Aug. 15, 1945, in Putnam, son of the late Leonide J. and Loretta (Billington) Hubert. He was the husband of Jean (Poirier) Hubert. They were married May 25, 1968, in St. Joseph’s Church in Dayville.
Mr. Hubert served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1965 till his honorable discharge in 1969 and was a Vietnam veteran. He worked for over 43 years as a machinist for Spirol International. He was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Church in Dayville and St. Ignatius in Rogers. He coached the Danielson Farm League for several years.
Besides his wife Jean, he leaves three sons, David J. Hubert (Carrie-Ann) of Brooklyn, Scott L. Hubert of Danielson and Randy A. Hubert and Jessica Taylor of Danielson; sister, Aurore Meagher (William) of Dayville; grandchildren, Ryan, Ashleigh, Jordan, Tyler, Samantha, Ryley, Justin and Christopher; a special niece Crystal Poirier; nieces and nephews.

Steven Lamontagne,

WEBSTER — Steven Howard Lamontagne, 51, went home to be with the Lord on July 29,2011.
Steven was born on Dec. 8, 1959, the son of Nancy Cable Lamontagne and the late Normand Lamontagne.
He leaves his mother; his daughter Amanda Southwell and her son Stephen Southwell Jr., all of Thompson; two brothers Ronald (Jessica), John (Beth Ellen); sister Judy Hunt (Jimmy); five nieces and an adopted brother Joseph.
Memorial services will be at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 11 at Tri State Baptist on Rt. 131, Quinebaug. Bartel Funeral Home and Chapel, Dudley.
Julius Hemmi
Linkkila
BROOKLYN – Julius Hemmi Linkkila, 93, of Brooklyn died Aug. 4, 2011, at Pierce Memorial Baptist Home in Brooklyn. He was born on April 10, 1918, in Ramsey, Mich., son of the late Henry and Olga Linkkila.
He was the husband of the late Lillian Helen (Kovisto) Linkkila. She died on May 23, 1986.
Mr. Linkkila was the first member of his family to be born in America. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Germany and France with the Field Artillery Battery A Company, 92nd Armored Field Artillery Battalion.
He worked for the U.S. government as an inspector and then owned and operated a poultry farm in Brooklyn for many years. Later he worked for the state Windham County Agricultural Center in Brooklyn for 10 years prior to retirement.
He leaves his daughters, Elaine R. Carchman (Bob) of E. Dennis, Mass., and Carol J. Linkkila and longtime companion Vincent Trincia of Holliston, Mass.; sister, Eileen Sipila; grandchildren, Jonathan Carchman, Jill McElderry-Maxwell and Julie Tsohandaridis; great grandchildren, Fox Maxwell and Alexandra Tsohandaridis.
Burial was in South Cemebery, Brooklyn, with military honors. Tillinghast Funeral Home, Danielson.
