KILLINGLY — The US Constitution will be the focus of a celebration Sept. 24 at Davis Park on Main Street.
The event, free and open to the public from noon to 3, will feature a Founding Fathers Walk of Fame, video presentations, speakers, a children’s coloring contest, free pocket constitutions and other educational info.
The activities will also include the kick-off of a constitutional essay contest for local eighth graders. The essays will be judged by local educators and communications specialists. A cash prize of $100 will be awarded at the conclusion of the contest. Potential contestants who cannot make the event may call 564-0329 for info.
The Constitution event and essay contest are sponsored by the Quiet Corner Tea Party Patriots, a non-partisan educational group that promotes limited government, governmental financial responsibility, and the free market system. Go to www.qctpp.org for information.
