June M. Herlihy,

PUTNAM —  June (Morse) Herlihy, 87, of Walnut Street, died Sept. 23, 2011, in Day Kimball Hospital.  She was the wife of the late John F. Herlihy.  Born in 1924 in Putnam, she was the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Jeannette Morse.
Mrs. Herlihy worked in retail at Shaw’s Stationery as well as Hallmark.  She loved football and basketball and enjoyed rooting for UConn, the Patriots, and the Celtics.  Her favorite pastime was watching her grandchildren play sports.  Through the hot summer, the rain, or the snow, she never missed their games.  She also enjoyed reading and soaking in the sun at the Boa Vista on Cape Cod.
June leaves her sons, Ellsworth G. “Butch” Herlihy (Diane) of Putnam, and Brian J. Herlihy  and his companion Mary of Worcester; daughters, Elizabeth “Betty” Aucoin (Peter) of Putnam, Kathryn Saucier (Ronald) of Woodstock, and Marianne Loomis (Richard) of Putnam; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her son John Francis “Jackie” Herlihy. Geraldine Grenier,

THOMPSON --- Geraldine M. (Blouin) Grenier, 80, of Pompeo Road, died of Alzheimer's Sept. 28, 2011, at home.
She was born in Webster, daughter of the late Emile and Yvonne (Fournier) Blouin.  She lived most of her life in N. Grosvenordale moving from Webster.  She was a retired nurse’s aide, having worked at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam.  She was an avid reader and loved to crochet.
She leaves her husband of 61 years and caregiver, Paul H. Grenier of Thompson; a son, Paul B. Grenier of Putnam; a daughter, Jacqueline Oleszewski (Paul)  of Woodstock Valley; a brother, Roland Blouin of Webster; a sister, Rita Strzelewicz of Worcester; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Mass was Oct. 3 at  St. Joseph Church, N. Grosvenordale, with burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, N. Grosvenordale. Donations: Hospice of NE CT, P.O. Box 632, Putnam, CT. 06260. Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale.
 
Theresa L. Chzaszcz,

DANIELSON — Theresa (Adamczyk) Chzaszcz, 82, of Westcott Road, died Sept. 24, 2011, in Regency Heights of Danielson.  Born in 1929 in Goodyear, she was daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Kuta) Adamczyk.
Mrs. Chzaszcz lived in Putnam for most of her life and was formerly employed as a machine operator at Preferred Plastics Inc. and later the Danco Corporation until her retirement.  She enjoyed reading novels, drawing sketches and spending time with family and friends.  “Terry” as she was known, had a great sense of humor and was well-liked by everyone she had the opportunity to meet. Terry was a member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.  
Theresa leaves her sons, John M. Chzaszcz of Putnam, Gary J. Chzaszcz of Thompson, and Steven M. Chzaszcz  (Lucy) of Putnam; her sister, Laura Campion of Putnam; her grandchildren, Joseph, Magdalena, and Matthew; and her great-grandchild, Jasmine.  She was predeceased by her longtime companion, Mike Karibian; her brothers, Rudolph “Jake” Adamczyk, and Fred “PeeWee” Adamczyk; and her sisters, Mary Willet, Stellar “Peggy” Dion, Irene Desutter, and Jenny Kempf.
The Funeral was Sept. 30 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam, CT.  Donations: Hospice of NECT, P.O. Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260.

John W. Salkiewicz,

N. GROSVENORDALE— John W. Salkiewicz, 50, of Brickyard Road, died Oct. 1, 2011, at home after a long illness. Born in 1960 in Putnam, he was the son of Edward Salkiewicz of N. Grosvenordale and the late Irene (Popowicz) Salkiewicz who died in February.
Mr. Salkiewicz was a graduate of Central New England College and worked as a computer programmer for Digital Computer Corporation.  He was a volunteer firefighter and EMT for the W. Thompson Fire Department where he taught CPR classes.
 He was a member of the NRA and enjoyed gardening and skiing.
In addition to his father, John leaves his brothers, Edward P. Salkiewicz (Lynn) of N. Grosvenordale and Joseph P. Salkiewicz (Dawna) of N. Grosvenordale; his sister, Katherine A. Kimball (David) of St. Albans, Maine; his nephews, Nicholas E. Salkiewicz, Ethan E. Salkiewicz, Douglas Kimball and his nieces Audrey Kimball, Alaina R. Salkiewicz, Rhianna Curotto and Lindsey O’Connor.
The gathering will be at 9 a.m. Oct. 5 in Valade Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, N. Grosvenordale. Donations: Hospice of NE CT, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT 06260. Valade Funeral Home, 23 Main St., N. Grosvenordale.

Jerome A. Groh,

N. GROSVENORDALE — Jerome A. Groh, 57, of Riverside Drive, died Sept. 26, 2011, in UMass Memorial Hospital. Born in 1954 in Webster, he was the son of the late Anthony and Victoria (Wagher) Groh.
Mr. Groh was a graduate of Tourtellotte Memorial High School and went on to work as a foreman for Campanella Fence.  He loved fishing and cooking.
Jerome leaves his twin daughters, Alicen E. Groh of Bethel, and Ariel K. Groh of N. Grosvenordale; his brother, Lawrence K. Groh Sr. (Linda) of Thompson; sisters, Barbara Hoginski (William) of Dover, N.H., Rita Rohr (Gordon) of N. Grosvenordale, Henrietta Panu (Charles) of Thompson, and Felicia Balcom (Thomas) of N. Grosvenordale; his former wife, Gail McClellan of Waterbury.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Oct. 1 in St. Joseph Basilica, Webster, with burial in St. Joseph Garden of Peace Cemetery. Gilman-Valade Funeral Homes.

Constance LaRoche,

N. GROSVENORDALE — Constance “Connie” (Borse) LaRoche, 87, of School Street, died Sept. 27, 2011, in Day Kimball Hospital.  She was the wife of the late Donat LaRoche who died in 1992.  Born in 1924 in N. Grosvenordale, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances (Galuski) Borse.
Mrs. LaRoche worked as a bookkeeper for the former WACAP agency, retiring in 1989.  She also worked at BW Footwear, and Jens Risom. Mrs. LaRoche was a member of St. Joseph Parish and had previously been active with the Columbiettes and the Ladies of St. Anne.
She leaves her son, Paul LaRoche; and daughter Catherine Thomas, both of N. Grosvenordale.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Bernice Roberts, and Viola Dion.

Romeo 'Chappy'

PUTNAM --- Romeo E. Chapdelaine  (Chappy) (Wagon Wheels), 81, died Sept. 11, 2011.
He was born on April 29,1930, son of the late Edmond and Rosamond Chapdelaine of Putnam.
Romeo was employed by M&M Construction in Webster. He drove construction trucks for many years.
 He enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
He leaves behind Marjorie Chapdelaine, three children Jimmy Chapdelaine of Danielson, Darlene Chapdelaine of  Eastford, and Susan Bell of Putnam; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a sister Carol Mahota of Florida; good friend Chico, and his boss Bobby.
He is predeceased by two brothers Raymond and Robert Chapdelaine.

Robert Kiley,

DUDLEY --- Robert John Kiley, 80, died peacefully  Thursday, September 29 in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge,  after an illness.
He was born in Webster, the son of the late Frank and Agnes (Roteth) Kiley.  He worked  52 years as a upholsterer at the former Ethan Allen Factory in Dudley.
Robert was a member of  Faith Assembly of God in Webster.
He enjoyed yard work ,gardening and his daily walk around the block .
He leaves his wife of 33 years, Nancy M. (Konicki) Kiley; one daughter: Christie Coco (Sal)  of Thompson; one brother: Donald Kiley of Brookfield, Mass.
 Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 21 in  Faith Assembly Of God, 1 Nelson St., Webster.  Burial will be private . Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel Dudley.

Gloria Rusack,

DUDLEY — Gloria (Bleau) Rusack, 74, of  Schofield Avenue, died Oct. 2 ,2011, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester, after a short illness.
Her husband of 33 years, Harry W. Rusack, died in 1988.
She was born in Webster, the daughter of the late Semeas Daniel Bleau and  Louise Flora (Perry).
Gloria was a graduate of Oxford High School.
The family settled in Dudley in 1977. 
She enjoyed assisting her husband, Harry, with Boy Scout Troop 171.
She became a Certified Nursing Assistant and enjoyed working  many years at the Oakwood Nursing & Rehabilitation in Webster.
She leaves two daughters: Sandra Pasquerella of Putnam and Lisa Brown of Webster; four sons: David Rusack of Oxford, Kevin Rusack of Charlton, Steven Rusack of Oxford and Robert Rusack of Danielson; two brothers: Clifford Bleau of Oxford and  Albert Bleau of New Hampshire; 19 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her son, Michael Rusack, two grandchildren and her brother Willard Bleau.
Graveside  services are at 10 a.m. Oct. 11 in  Sacred Heart Of Jesus Cemetery, Webster.

Douglas H. Spahl,

DUDLEY --- Douglas H. Spahl, 45,  died peacefully Wednesday, September 28 in UMASS Memorial HealthCare -University Campus, Worcester, Ma after an illness.
He was born in Webster and lived in Dudley all his life .He graduated from Shepherd Hill Regional High School . Doug proudly served in the Navy during the Persian Gulf and peacetime.  He was a custodian for 12 years at SHRHS  for the Dudley - Charlton Regional School System . Previously he worked for the Worcester County House of Correction in West Boylston . Doug was an avid fan of the New York Giants. He took great pride in the care and maintenance  of the athletic fields at the high school. He leaves his parents Russell L and Joan (Jolda) Spahl of Dudley; two sisters: Donna Celko of Woodstock, and  Kimberly Cotto of Sturbridge; one brother: Rick Spahl of Dudley; nieces and nephews,. He was predeceased by an infant  brother, Christopher Spahl.  The Funeral was Oct. 3 in  Bartel Funeral Home & Chapel, Dudley.  with burial with military honors at  Sacred Heart Of Jesus Cemetery, Webster.
