Now in its 21st year, Walktober offers an abundance of free guided walks, hikes and strolls through nature and history, as well as spectacular paddles offered on many of our pristine rivers and lakes. The Walktober brochure also highlights many special events, and even more can be found by visiting www.tlgv.org. Or pick up your copy at one of the convenient information racks or at many town halls and libraries. On the walks all children must be accompanied by an adult. There are also tours.
Some of the special events taking place during Walktober include: two Corn Mazes at Ekonk Hill Turkey Farm in Sterling, and Fort Hill Farm in Thompson; the Fall Festival Tyme celebration at Blue Slope Country Museum in Franklin; the Eastern Connecticut ARTS Festival in downtown Willimantic,, sponsored by Willimantic Renaissance, Inc.; and Camelids of Capen Hill at the Capen Hill Nature Sanctuary in Charlton, where visitors will be escorted by a llama and an alpaca while exploring the walking trails.
