Rotaract Club
seeks new
members
PUTNAM — The Quinebaug Valley Regional Rotaract Club is recruiting new members.
Women and men between the ages of 18 and 30 are welcome to join the service organization at 11:50 a.m. Nov. 10 at QVCC.
The group, which is the young professional branch of Rotary International, meets twice a month.
Rotaract is part of a global effort to promote peace and understanding at the community level. It serves the community, country and world, and expands members’ professional and personal networks.
Alan MacKenzie, Rotaract’s club president, said, “Community service is important to me. My involvement in Rotaract has helped me meet other people who care about the same things I do. Not only do we have a good time, we also make a positive difference for people here in northeast Connecticut and around the globe. Last year we helped a lot people devastated by the earthquakes that hit Haiti and Japan.” Rotaract is sponsored by the Danielson and Putnam Rotary clubs. Projects have included fund-raisers, a fashion show, and comfort kits for soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Last spring, Rotaract members spent 24-hours in a “Shelter Box” to highlight the plight of those displaced by natural disaster.
