Graduates
COLUMBIA, S.C. --- Army Reserve Pfc. Crystal A. Baker has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson. She is the daughter of Mary Petrella of Hancock Ave., Vandergrift, Penn., and granddaughter of Dorothy Furlong of Putnam,. Baker graduated in 2007 from Kiski Area High School, Leechburg, Pa.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas --- Air National Guard Airman Ryan L. Walsh graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base. He is the son of Dennis and Cheryl Walsh of Putnam. Walsh graduated in 2005 from Putnam High School.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

SAN ANTONIO, Texas --- Air Force Airman Joshua D. MacDonald graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base. He is the son of David MacDonald of Woodstock and graduated in 2010 from H.H. Ellis Technical High School, Danielson.

LAWTON, Okla. --- Charlaine F. Willard-Perron has been promoted to the rank of private two in the U.S. Army. The private is a healthcare specialist (combat medic) regularly assigned to the 1st Battalion, 19th Field Artillery, Fort Sill. She is the daughter of Donna M. Perron of Dayville and graduated in 2007 from Killingly High School.

GREAT LAKES, Ill. --- Navy Seaman Recruit Jessica Hudson, daughter of Penny A. and James R. Hudson of Danielson, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command. During the eight-week program, Hudson completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.
