Bungay's
new chief,
officers
WOODSTOCK — Bungay Fire Brigade members elected Sean Griffin as fire chief during their Annual Meeting in November. Chief Griffin has been a member of the Brigade since 2006, and has previously served as lieutenant, assistant chief and deputy chief. At the meeting, Griffin thanked retiring Chief Roy Chandler for outstanding leadership and service during his tenure as Chief. Chandler will continue to lend an experienced hand to the department as Deputy Chief.
Brigade members responded to 218 emergency calls over the past year, averaging more than four calls each week. These included 118 medical calls, 24 motor vehicle accidents, and 11 structure fires. The Brigade provided mutual aid assistance 13 times to surrounding districts within Woodstock and neighboring towns. Bungay Fire Brigade members collectively contributed almost 4,000 volunteer hours in responding to calls, participating in training and drills, maintaining the Brigade’s equipment, and representing the Brigade throughout the region in parades and other community events.
