Chester E. Corey,

PUTNAM — Chester E. Corey of Putnam went to be with his Lord and Savior on Jan. 20, 2012, after a fight with lung cancer.
Born Dec. 26, 1944, to Noella (Lavarierre) Bennett and Arthur Corey, he was raised by his mother and step-father, Herbert Bennett Sr. He lived in Putnam all his life graduating from Putnam High in 1963.
 He started the Bargain Buyer, a local publication in Rhode Island, with his first wife, Phyllis in 1970.
He was an active member of Hope Community Church in Putnam, having served as a trustee, treasurer and many other positions in the church. He was a member of the Burrillville Lions Club since 1977, serving as president in 1984-85 and 1988-89. He also was a past president of the Pascoag Chamber of Commerce, and past president of the Burrillville Chamber of Commerce. He loved cruising with his wife Sandra and saw many Caribbean Islands plus Alaska, Hawaii, Mexico and the Panama Canal. He fought a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He leaves his wife Sandra Corey whom he married in 1998; daughter Susan Corey of Danielson; son Richard Corey of Putnam; four stepchildren, Raymond Bennett of Plainfield, David Bennett of Brooklyn, Crystal Utz of Springfield, Mass., and Matthew Delaere of Putnam; sister, Elaine Eastman (Donald) of Attawaugan; brothers Harvey Bennett of Putnam, Raymond Bennett (Charlene) of Danielson, Leonard Bennett (Michelle) of Thompson, and Michael Bennett (Joan) of Woodstock; grandchildren, David and Ethan Bennett of Plainfield and Derek and Jordan Bennett of Brooklyn. He was predeceased by his first wife Phyllis (Bibeault) Corey in 1989, by his parents and two brothers, Herbert II and Robert (Pete) Bennett.

Dennis Barlow,

EASTFORD — Dennis Stevens Barlow, 52, of Eastford died Jan. 20, 2012, at home.
Dennis, born April 18, 1959, is one of six sons born to Herman and Jean Barlow of Eastford.
Dennis graduated from Woodstock Academy in 1977 and enrolled at UConn, graduating in 1981. He then attended Johns Hopkins Medical School and graduated with an MD degree in 1985. He completed his medical training at Macha Hospital in Zambia, Africa. Following the completion of his residency at the University of Vermont, he worked at Mtshabezi Mission Hospital in Zimbabwe for five years. He returned to Connecticut with his young family in 1994 and worked as an Emergency Department physician at Rockville and Manchester Hospitals for the rest of his career.
Dennis was a lifelong member of Eastford Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, trustee, executive board member, and missions board treasurer. He was also an active member of the Eastford Elementary School Board, and served on the board of CareNet in Danielson.
He leaves Joan (Lavigne) Barlow, his wife of 29 years, three children- son Daniel, daughter Michelle, and son Joseph; his mother Jean; brothers David of Coopersburg, Penn., Glenn of Eastford, Bruce of Marshall, Mich., Herman Jr. of Eastford, and James of Eastford.
The Memorial Service was Jan. 23 at the Eastford Baptist Church. Throughout his life Dennis was actively involved in education and missions work; therefore, the family requests donations to: Dennis’ scholarship fund, (checks made out to “Town of Eastford Trust Fund,”); Eastford Elementary School, PO Box 158, Eastford, CT 06242; or Eastford Baptist Church Missions Fund, Eastford Baptist Church, 133 Union Rd, Eastford, CT 06242. Anita C. Rossi,

PUTNAM — Anita C. Rossi, 93, of Putnam, died Jan. 18, 2012, at Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Federico Rossi. They were married in Italy in 1939. He died April 12, 1989.
She was born Dec. 4, 1918, in Putnam, daughter of Aldo and Ines (Simonzi) Berti. Anita was employed for over 30 years as an assembler at American Optical working in Putnam and Southbridge.  She was a communicant of St. Mary Church of the Visitation in Putnam. As a young child Anita moved with her family back to Italy. In 1939 she married and in 1951 she returned with her husband and children to Putnam, where they made their home. She enjoyed her home and her flower gardens.
She leaves her children: Iride Pearce (George) of Woodstock; Enzo Rossi (Donna) of Buffalo, Wy.; Bruno Rossi (Donna) of N. Grosvenordale; Mary Ann Rossi of Thompson; grandchildren  Laura, Janice, Melissa, Beth, Christopher. She was predeceased by her siblings Sergio Berti, Dino Berti, Nella Palombo, and a granddaughter, Susan Pearce.
The Mass of Christian Burial was Jan. 21, at St. Mary Church of the Visitation, with burial in St. Mary Cemetery. Smith & Walker Funeral Home, 148 Grove St., Putnam.

Heather Credit,

DANIELSON — Heather Credit, 23, of Cady Street, died Jan. 13, 2012, in her home.  Born in 1988 in Putnam, she was the daughter of Neil and Florence (Dixon) Credit.
Heather worked in the arena concessions for the Mohegan Sun Casino.  She was a member of the Mohegan Tribe.  Heather loved music, especially the Beatles and Elvis. She also enjoyed to swim and collected angels.  She had always hoped to work with children someday. 
In addition to her parents, she leaves her sisters, Tiffany Credit of Norwich, and Megan Credit of Fairfield, N.J.; maternal Grandmother Lorraine Dixon (companion Victor Brannen, Sr.). of Dayville; maternal grandfather, Carlton Dixon Jr. of Putnam; paternal grandparents, George and Sandra Newman of Moosup, and Elijah and Carol Credit of Plainfield.
Visitation was Jan. 21 in the Gilman Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Putnam.

Robert Morse,

BROOKLYN — Robert Morse, 61 of Westview Drive, died Jan. 21, 2012, at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam. 
He was born Aug. 26, 1950, in Webster, to the late Henry and Sadie (Kokoszka) Morse and grew up in Dudley.
Bob took great pride in his yard work, and spent many happy hours in his garden. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking and loved spending time with his granddaughter, Rowan. He worked as the highway superintendent for the City of Groton for 18 years, and later worked for Geisser Engineering Corporation as a land surveyor.
He leaves his wife Jane (Bennard) of Brooklyn, three sons; Christopher Morse (Stephanie Moreau) of Plainfield, Patrick Morse of Avon, and Matthew Morse of Brooklyn; a granddaughter Rowan Morse.
The Funeral was Jan. 24 at Gagnon and Costello Funeral Home 33 Reynolds St. Danielson, with burial later in Holy Cross Cemetery, Danielson. Donations: The American Heart Association, PO Box 5022 Wallingford, CT 06492.

John F. Racine,

DANIELSON — John F. Racine, 51 of Fall Brook Road died Jan. 18, 2012, at home.
He was born Aug. 27, 1960,  in Putnam, son of the late Francis C. and Elaine B. (Vashon) Racine. Mr. Racine was a 1978 graduate of Ellis Tech and served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne. He worked for over 20 years as a machinist for Kaman Aerospace in Moosup and later at Electric Boat in Groton. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoying working on cars.
He leaves his son Matthew J. Racine of Waterford; sisters, Carol Racine of California and Janet Bouthillier (John), of Brooklyn.

Florence J. Weigand,

DANIELSON — Florence J. Weigand, 93, of Quinebaug Drive, died Jan. 18, 2012, at Windham Hospital in Willimantic. She was the wife of the late Lewis R. Weigand. They were married on May 4, 1946, in St. Rose Church, Girard, Ohio.
She was born Nov. 1, 1918, daughter of the late Joseph and Jenny Pishkur. Florence retired from Rogers Corp. in Rogers and was active in the community where she was a lifelong member of St. James Church. Florence loved to cook and bake and was an avid fan of UConn basketball.
She leaves her children: daughter Jeaneen Cloutier and son Randy Weigand; granddaughters Bridget Giaquinto (Robert), Marisa Cloutier, Lindsey Weigand and great grandsons; Lucien Dube and the newest family member, Parker Trask Bessette; brother; Eddie Pishkur (Marian) of Florida. Florence was predeceased by brothers Joseph, Rudy, Al and Willie, and sister Millie Vasilik.

Marjorie Wheeler,

THOMPSON — Marjorie A. (Brackett) Wheeler, 96, of Thompson Road and formerly of Oxford, Mass., died Jan. 22, 2012, at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Raymond M. Wheeler.
She was born in Lunenburg, Mass., the daughter of the late Frank and Evelyn (Page) Brackett, and lived most of her life in Oxford before moving to Thompson in 1996. She graduated from Lunenburg High School.
Mrs. Wheeler worked at home making crafts. She enjoyed making quilts and afghans. She had worked as a nurse’s aide. She was a longtime member of the United Church of Christ in Webster, and attended High Pointe Church in Thompson, in later years.
She leaves her daughter, Jane Austin (Ray) of Thompson; many grandchildren, including Randy Austin, Dianne Barrett, Jim Austin, Ray Wheeler, Jim Wheeler, and David Ward; many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, David A. Wheeler and Raymond F. Wheeler; a brother, Wayne Brackett; and two sisters, Sylvia Brackett and Alicia Bonin.

Helen Baron,

WEBSTER — Helen S. (Lazarowski) Baron, 93, of Webster, died Jan. 21, 201,2 in Hubbard Regional Hospital after a brief illness. Her husband of 45 years, Walter J. Baron, died in 1993.
She was born and raised in Dudley, a daughter of Stanislaw and Kazimiera (Kozlowski) Lazarowski. She lived in Webster since her marriage in 1948.
Mrs. Baron’s talent was sewing. She worked at Stevens Linen Associates in Dudley for many years. She then devoted her time to raising her family. She also taught sewing class at the Bartlett High Evening School for several years.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph Basilica, and was a member of its Holy Rosary Sodality, Sacred Heart Society, St. Anne Society and the St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club.
She leaves a son, Walter W. Baron (Marilyn) of N. Brookfield; two daughters, Jane H. Baron and Carol A. Whaley (Bruce) of Westboro; four grandchildren; a great granddaughter; two brothers, John Lazarowski of E. Hartford and Stanley Lazarowski (Sue) of Idaho; four sisters, Stasia Nalepa and Genevieve Lariviere (Adelard), all of Webster, and Theresa Jezierski (Stanley) and Anna Scanlon, all of N. Grosvenordale.

Richard P. Chenevert,

QUINEBAUG — Richard P. Chenevert, 53, of Old Turnpike Road, died Dec. 28, 2012, at home. Richard was born in Worcester, son of the late Robert A. and Theresa V. (Demuth) Chenevert. Richard was a hydraulic mechanic at Webco in Dudley and was a U.S. Marine veteran. He leaves a brother, Brian R. Chenevert of Worcester; his domestic partner and friend, Wendy Butts Racine of Quinebaug, with whom he made his home.

Jeannette D. Rounds,

BROOKLYN — Jeannette D. (LaBelle) Rounds, 90, of Bunny Lane, and St. Petersburg, Fla., died Jan. 18, 2012, in Brooklyn. Born on July 28, 1921, in Putnam, she was the daughter of Joseph and Antonia (Gervais) LaBelle.
On Sept. 21, 1940, she was united in marriage to Gerald R. Rounds, who died Jan. 31, 2009. She attended schools in Canada and Killingly graduating from Killingly High School. Prior to her retirement, she was the owner of LaBelle’s Package Store. She loved to travel and spending the winter months at her home in St. Petersburg.
She leaves her daughter, Janice Briquier (Edward) of Danielson; son Richard Rounds (Marsha) of St. Petersburg and Bradenton, Fla.; seven grandsons, two granddaughters, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by her brother Ernest LaBelle.

Gail Foux
N. GROSVENORDALE— Gail F. (Benoit) Foux, 63, of Main Street, died unexpectedly Jan. 18, 2012, at home.
She was born and raised in Webster, the only daughter of Chester V. and Stasia D. (Cejmer) Benoit. She graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster and studied to be a cosmetologist. She moved to N. Grosvenordale in 1991. Gail worked at Clinic Instruments in Southbridge for many years before retiring. She was a former member of St. Joseph Basilica in Webster.
She leaves a son, Mark C. Boutin, with whom she lived; and a grandson, Justin Boutin of Webster.
A Memorial Mass will be held later in St. Joseph Basilica, Webster with burial in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Scanlon Funeral Service, Webster.
