Named maternal-
fetal medicine chief
PUTNAM --- Andrew MacKenzie, MD, has been named medical director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Day Kimball Healthcare.
This new, full-time service will include prenatal ultrasounds/fetal surveillance, genetic screening and counseling, invasive fetal testing, and consultative services for all other aspects of prenatal care.
Dr. MacKenzie will also function as part of the obstetrical service, assisting in routine prenatal care and deliveries.
“Dr. MacKenzie has a deep understanding of our community and possesses the knowledge, experience, and passion to advance our maternal-fetal medicine services to meet the growing, prenatal-care needs of women in northeast Connecticut,” said Robert E. Smanik, president and CEO of Day Kimball Healthcare.
Most recently, Dr. MacKenzie served as the director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Saint Francis Medical Group in Hartford.
Prior to that, he was Director of Ultrasound at Madonna Perinatal Services, Mineola, N.Y., and Co-Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Mercy Medical Center, Rockville Center, N.Y.
Dr. MacKenzie is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and maternal-fetal medicine. A diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. MacKenzie is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He is a member of the following associations: American Medical Association, Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
An assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology at UConn, Dr. MacKenzie has been recognized by the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology for excellence in teaching, and received the Outstanding Attending of the Year Award for 2007-2008 from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Winthrop-University Hospital.
Dr. MacKenzie is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn, and served as a fellow in maternal-fetal medicine at the New York University School of Medicine.
Dr. MacKenzie lives in Woodstock with his wife, Elena Poloukhine, MD, also a member of Day Kimball Healthcare’s physician network, and their three children.
