PUTNAM --- Putnam Science Academy, an all-boys private day and boarding school with a focus on science and math, announced that it will award five full scholarships, five 60-percent scholarships, and five 30-percent scholarships to boys eligible to enroll as day students.
Putnam Science Academy’s diverse student body includes boys from more than 10 countries and local students. One-hundred percent of PSA graduates are accepted to four-year colleges and universities, many with full or partial merit scholarships. An award-winning robotics team and Division I basketball team are two of about 20 extracurricular activities available to students at Putnam Science Academy.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for college-bound students in the area to get an affordable, private, personalized education focused on science and math,” said Putnam Science Academy Principal Emrullah Durmaz. “In addition, our school offers a uniquely diverse student body with students from all around the world. Day students will have the opportunity to learn a great deal about other cultures, languages, and worldviews – all important lessons for students who want to succeed in our global economy.”
To be eligible for consideration, prospective students must be boys in grades 8 or 9, live in northeast Connecticut, South-Central Massachusetts, or Western Rhode Island, and enroll as a day student. Prospective students must also take and meet score requirements on the Explore Test, which will be administered at the school during three open house events. The Explore Test is an ACT standardized college readiness test for 8th and 9th grade students. Other criteria will include current and past grade transcripts and letters of recommendation from teachers. For information call 960-928-5010.
